Abstract
Kualitas lembaga pendidikan dapat memengaruhi keputusan orangtua dalam memilih lembaga pendidikan untuk anak. Lembaga pendidikan yang menawarkan keunggulan dari sistem pendidikan adalah sekolah kedinasan Politeknik Imigrasi. Padatnya kegiatan, aturan ketat, serta berbagai tuntutan membuat taruna harus mengerahkan kemampuan dari segi fisik, mental, dan pemikiran secara maksimal yang memicu terjadinya stres akademik. Stres akademik dapat terjadi ketika ada ketidaksesuaian antara tuntutan lingkungan dengan sumber daya aktual, sehingga individu terbebani. Reaksi terhadap stres bervariasi antara satu individu dengan individu lain. Salah satu faktor yang membedakan sikap individu dalam menghadapi permasalahan adalah kepribadian hardiness. Kepribadian hardiness mengubah stresor negatif menjadi positif. Dalam kata lain, individu menganggap stresor atau masalah sebagai tantangan. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya pengaruh kepribadian hardiness terhadap stress akademik pada taruna di Politeknik Imigrasi. Sampel penelitian adalah 103 taruna tingkat satu sampai tingkat tiga di Politeknik Imigrasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kuantitatif dan menggunakan Skala Kepribadian Hardiness serta Skala Stres Akademik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepribadian hardiness memengaruhi stres akademik pada taruna di Politeknik Imigrasi dengan R2 = .531. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat kepribadian hardiness taruna, tingkat stress akademik yang dimiliki juga semakin rendah. Penemuan lain pada penelitian ini juga turut didiskusikan / The quality of educational institutions can influence parents' decisions in choosing educational institutions for children. The educational institution that offers the advantages of the education system is the Immigration Polytechnic service school. The denseness of activities, strict rules, and various demands make cadets have to exert abilities in terms of physical, mental, and thinking to the maximum that triggers the onsany of academic stress. Academic stress can occur when there is a discrepancy between environmental demands and actual resources, leaving individuals burdened. Reactions to stress vary between one individual and another individual. One of the factors that distinguishes an individual's attitude in dealing with problems is personality hardiness. Personality hardiness turns negative stressor into positivity. In other words, individuals regard stressors or problems as challenges. This study aims to determine whether or not the influence of personality hardiness on academic stress on cadets at the Immigration Polytechnic. The study sample was 103 first- to third-degree cadets at the Immigration Polytechnic. This research was conducted by quantitative method and using Hardiness Personality Scale as well as Academic Stress Scale. The results showed that personality hardiness influenced academic stress on cadets at the Immigration Polytechnic with R2 = .531. This shows that the higher the level of personality hardiness of cadets, the lower the level of academic stress. Other findings in this study were also discussed.
