Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 telah menyebabkan kecemasan penduduk diseluruh dunia. Kecemasan tersebut terjadi bukan hanya karena khawatir akan terjangkit virus, tetapi juga kecemasan mengenai pemenuhan kebutuhan hidup, manifestasi dari kecemasan tersebut terlihat dari perilaku Panic Buying masyarakat di tengah krisis. Panic Buying menimbulkan banyak dampak yang serius terhadap stabilitas sosial, tatanan ekonomi dan psikologi, perilaku ini juga beresiko menyebabkan inflasi, kenaikan harga barang, serta kelangkaan barang di pasar. Melihat begitu banyak dampak serius yang dapat ditimbulkan dari perilaku ini, peneliti tertarik untuk meneliti faktor-faktor yang diduga telah memicu perilaku ini, salah satunya adalah terpaan media. Oleh karena itu peneliti memilih media televisi sebagai objek dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian survei dalam bentuk kuesioner, disebarkan kepada 100 responden yang merupakan penduduk kota Depok sebagai kota dengan pasien pertama kasus Covid-19 di Indonesia. Metode analisa data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode regresi linier untuk melihat tingkat pengaruh antar variabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa variabel independen (Terpaan Media) Televisi telah berkontribusi terhadap variabel dependen (Panic Buying) yaitu memberikan pengaruh sebesar 39%. / The Covid-19 pandemic has caused anxiety around the world. This anxiety occurs not only because of the fear of catching the virus, but also anxiety about fulfilling the necessities of life. The manifestation of this anxiety can be seen from the Panic Buying behavior of the community in the midst of the crisis. Panic buying has many serious impacts on social stability, economic structure and psychology. This behavior also risks causing inflation, rising prices for goods, and scarcity of goods in the market. Seeing so many serious impacts that this behavior can cause, the author is interested in examining the factors that are thought to have triggered this behavior, one of which is media exposure. Therefore, the researcher chose television as the object of this research. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey research method in the form of a questionnaire, distributed to 100 respondents who are residents of the city of Depok, which is the city with the first patient of the Covid-19 case in Indonesia. The linear regression method data analysis is used in this study to see the level of influence between variables. The results showed that the independent variable (media exposure) of television had contributed to the dependent variable (Panic Buying), which had an effect of 39%.
