Abstract

Company X is a distribution company and has a function as Regional Distribution Center (RDC) for the region of Jakarta. RDC supplies margarine to its five distribution centers (DCs). Current Reorder Point (ROP) replenishment system often makes RDC Jakarta running out of stock when the orders come from the DCs. Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) is considered as a method to solve the company's problem. The objective of this research is to analyze potential enhancement of the company logistics performance using DRP method instead of ROP for period August - October 2006. On DRP's calculation, the author divides 4 planning scenarios. DRP scenario 1 and 2 use practical method which ignores the relationship among DRP inputs theoretically (forecasting, order quantity and safety stock is considered independent one another). DRP scenario 3 and 4 use theoretic method which considers the relationship every DRP inputs theoretically. Then, the four scenarios will be simulated with real condition at the company for period August - October 2006. The result will be compared with ROP method for the same period. Based on the DRP and ROP overall performance indicators comparison using service level and cost / investment criteria for period August - October 2006, the results are: For DCs level, DRP scenario 1 and 2 have the same performance with ROP meanwhile DRP scenario 3 and 4 have the better overall performance (20 - 30%) than ROP. For RDC level, DRP scenario 1 and 2 have the better overall performance (15 — 20 %) than ROP meanwhile DRP scenario 3 and 4 have much better overall performance than ROP. Based on these realities, the conclusion is DRP method has the better overall performance than ROP without sacrificing its five DCs performance. / Perusahaan X adalah perusahaan distribusi produk margarin dan berrlingsi sebagai Regional Distribution Center (RDC) wilayah Jakarta RDC memasok produk margarin ke lima Distribution Center (DC). Sistem replenishment metode reorder point (ROP) yang digunakan perusahaan saat ini sering membuat RDC Jakarta kehabisan persediaan saat pesanan datang dari DC Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, penulis memberikan usulan perbaikan performansi logistik perusahaan dengan menggunakan metode Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis potensi peningkatan performansi logistik perusahaan dibeberapa area yang saat ini menggunakan metode ROP bila diganti dengan menggunakan metode DRP. Dalam perhitungan DRP, penulis membagi menjadi 4 skenario perencanaan DRP skenario 1 dan 2 menggunakan metode praktis yang tidak memperhatikan keterkaitan hubungan masukan DRP yang akan digunakan secara teoritis (peramalan, order quantity dan safety stock dianggap independen satu dengan yang lainnya). DRP skenario 3 dan 4 menggunakan metode teoritis yang memperhatikan keterkaitan hubungan masukan DRP secara teoritis. Keempat skenario DRP kemudian disimulasikan dengan kondisi aktual perusahaan periode Agustus - Oktober 2006. Setelah itu dibandingkan hasil performansinya dengan metode ROP untuk periode yang sama. Berdasarkan hasil perbandingan indikator performansi metode ROP dengan DRP menurut kriteria service level dan biaya / investasi secara keseluruhan untuk periode Agustus - Oktober 2006, diperoleh hasil pada tingkat DC: Metode DRP skenario 1 dan 2 memberikan hasil keseluruhan yang tidak lebih baik daripada metode ROP namun DRP skenario 3 dan 4 memberikan hasil keseluruhan yang lebih baik (20 - 30%). Sedangkan pada tingkat RDC, DRP skenario 1 dan 2 memberikan hasil keseluruhan yang lebih baik (15 - 20%) daripada metode ROP namun DRP skenario 3 dan 4 memberikan hasil keseluruhan yang jauh lebih baik (50%). Berdasarkan hal tersebut, maka peningkatan performansi perusahaan (RDC Jakarta) yang menggunakan metode ROP dapat ditingkatkan melalui penggunaan metode DRP tanpa mengorbankan performansi yang telah dicapai oleh kelima DC sebelumnya.
