Abstract
In the field of videography, stable video recording is considered a crucial aspect. In order to obtain results of moving video recording, a utility known as a slider is used. Sliders ease the recording of video that requires movement in one direction. However, moving the slider system at a slow and consistent rate cannot be accomplished manually. Automation of slider movement is therefore required for such a task. This final project has been made in order to implement a slider system that is capable of moving at slow and constant rate. The operator controls the system by selecting the appropriate slider system menu options on the user interface LCD keypad shield. This operation begins by determining the initial position of the dolly cart by pressing a button on the LCD keypad shield and then confirming by pressing the “select” button. The LCD keypad shield will then display the next menu that will determine the direction of slider movement. After the direction is set by pressing either the “left” or “right” button, the LCD keypad shield will display movement mode menu options. Two modes are available: movement at a constant speed and constant acceleration. There are three constant speed values, and six acceleration values to choose from. After selecting the desired values, the system will begin moving the slider. Testing results showed that movement of the slider system is stable. Some changes in value was recorded during calculation of distance to be travelled within a period of time. This change occurred because of tension and errors in the calculation of distance which affected the consistency of the speed value. These change in values were not significant however, and movement of the slider system remained stable. In addition to testing of slider movement, the termination sensor was also tested. Testing of the termination sensor resulted in the sensor successfully working 75% of 20 trials for both left and rigsht sensors. The errors that occurred were caused by inaccurate placement thus causing unsatisfactory response.
