Abstract

Nurses become the most important human resources in the Hospital that provide health services consistently and continuously for 24 hours to the clients. The large numbers of responsibilities and demands that the nurses have to endure, shows that the nursing profession is vulnerable to emotional fatigue and causes nurses to be one of the health professions with the highest burn-out prevalence. Burn-out is the condition of a person who is drained away and loses psychic and physical energy. The objective of the study was to describe nurses burn-out in hospitals in Indonesia, using quantitative descriptive method, with 201 respondents. Using convenience sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI), which was translated and was valid and reliable (Cronbach alpha is 0.735). The instrument was distributed through an online survey from 12 June 2018 – 10 July 2018. The result showed that 2,98% nurses in Indonesia experienced high burn-out while 97,02% nurses experienced medium level of burn-out. Based on these result, it is recommended that the authorities pay attention to the welfare of nurses and to futher research can examine the factors that cause burn-out.
