Seiring bertambahnya jumlah penduduk setiap tahun terjadi peningkatan kebutuhan akan tenaga kesehatan salah satunya tenaga keperawatan. Di rumah sakit, waktu jaga perawat dalam sehari dibagi kedalam tiga shift, yaitu shift pagi, shift sore dan shift malam. Saat pergantian shift, perawat dari shift sebelumnya melakukan timbang terima pasien kepada perawat shift berikutnya yang biasa disebut handover. Handover adalah suatu cara dalam menyampaikan sesuatu (laporan) yang berkaitan dengan keadaan pasien. Salah satu penyumbang KTD (Kejadian Tidak Diduga) adalah pelaksanaan handover pasien di ruangan yang kurang optimal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran pelaksanaan bedside handover antar shift oleh perawat di ruang rawat inap di Satu Rumah Sakit Swasta Indonesia Bagian Barat. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Sampel yang peneliti ambil sebanyak 41 perawat yang bekerja di ruang rawat inap lantai dua, lima dan enam Rumah Sakit Swasta Indonesia Bagian Barat. Teknik pengambilan sampel (sampling) dengan metode total sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembaran observasi terstruktur dari ACSQH (Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare). Penelitian ini berlangsung dari bulan Mei sampai Juli 2018. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pelaksanaan bedside handover 14.6% dalam kategori baik dan 85.4% dalam kategori cukup. Hal ini menggambarkan bahwa sangat sedikit yang melaksanakan bedside handover secara keseluruhan dengan baik. Diharapkan kepada perawat di ruang rawat inap untuk melaksanakan bedside handover sesuai dengan SOP (Standar Operasional Prosedur) yang ada di rumah sakit agar kinerja perawat semakin meningkat dalam memberikan asuhan keperawatan = Along with the increase of the population each year an increase in the demand for health care personel, one of which is the nursing workforce. In the hospital, nurses split their day into three shifts: morning shift, afternoon shift and night shift. During turn over of shifts, a nurse from the previous shift conduct handover of patients for the next shift nurses to accept. Handover is a way in conveying something (reports) with regard to the state of the patient. One contributor to an unexpected event is the poor implementation of patient handover. The purpose of this research is to know the description of the implementation of bedside handover between shifts by the nurse in the private hospital’s IPD (Inpatient Department) Western Indonesia. This research is a quantitative research with a descriptive approach. The sample that the researchers took are as many as 41 nurses who work in the second, fifth, and sixth floor of a private Western Indonesia Hospital. Total sampling is the used as the sampling method. The instrument used is a structured observation sheets from ACSQH (Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare). This study lasted from May to July 2018. The results showed that the implementation of bedside handover was 14.6% in good category and 85.4% in sufficient category. This illustrates that only a very few implementation of bedside handover as a whole is done well. It is expected that the nurse in the inpatient room to carry out bedside handover in accordance with the existing SOP (Standard Operational Procedure) in the hospital for the nurse's performance is increasing in providing nursing care.
