Abstract

Saran: Peneliti selanjutnya untuk dapat melakukan penelitian sejenis dengan memperhatikan faktor lain yang juga memperngaruhi produksi ASI seperti psikologis, nutrisi, kondisi payudara ibu dan hormon / Background: Nationally, the achievement of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia fluctuated in 2011 by 65.87%, in 2012 by 53.78% and 57.63% in 2013 (BPS & Depkes 2014). Data in the Bashan room (Midwifery) obtained in 2016 found that 60% of mothers exclusively breastfed. Hands-On Pumping Technique (HOP) is a technique of pumping by hand by relying on the strength of the thumb and forefinger (Perinasia, 2012). The pumping technique was first introduced by a lactation counselor named Chele Marmet (Madela, 2016) known as the Marmet technique, which demonstrated that pumping can increase milk production (Dahl, 2015) because it stimulates the hormone prolactin to produce milk. Objective: to see the effect of HOP on milk production on post-partum mothers. Method: The design of the research is the experimental quasi research design using pre-and-posttest only design with control group. Population: The samples obtained in this study were 68 post-partum multiparous mothers with criterion 34 as HOP intervention group and 34 post-partum mothers as control group. Conclusion: On the third day of the intervention group there was a significant increase in milk production from day one. The intervention group received HOP intervention with an increase of 121.08 ml. This means that there is a difference in milk production between before and after treatment. On the third day, the P value is 0,000, and p value < 0,05. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is effect of HOP on milk production. Recommendation: It is recommended to future researchers to be able to conduct similar research with attention to other factors that also affect the production of breast milk such as psychological, nutrition, breast and hormonal conditions.
