Infeksi nosokomial atau Hospital Acquired infection adalah infeksi yang terjadi di rumah sakit setelah menjalani rawat inap yang menyebabkan lama rawat semakin panjang dan biaya perawatan semakin besar. Pencegahan infeksi nosokomial dapat melindungi dan mengurangi angka kejadian infeksi pada tenaga kesehatan dan pasien. Perawat sebgai media perantara sekaligus sebagai sumber penuelaran harus menyadari bahwa saat melakukan tindakan yang tidak tepat dapat merugikan pasien. Untuk itu peran perawat dalam pencegahan infeksi nosokomial sangat penting. Data kejadian infeksi nosokomial di siloam hospital labuan bajo sebesar 0,15 %. kejadian infeksi nosokomial yang ada di siloam hospital Labuan bajo yaitu peptic ulcer, plebitis,dan infeksi saluran nafas (pneumonia) dan kejadian yang paling sering terjadi yaitu plebitis . Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi gambaran pengetahuan perawat terhadap pencegahan infeksi nosokomial. Desain penelitian ini deskriptif kuantitatif dengan teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan total sampling, sampel yang digunakan 18 responden dengan mengunakan kusioner sebagai instrument penelitan. Hasil penelitian pengetahuan perawat tentang pencegahan infeksi nosokomial diperoleh 11 responden (61,1%) pengetahuan baik, 7 reponden (39%) sedang dan rendah (0%). Saran bagi penelitian selanjutnya untuk meneliti tentang faktor – faktor yang mempengaruhi pengetahuan perawat serta observasi perilaku perawat dalam upaya pencegahan infeksi nosokomial / Nosocomial infection or Hospital Acquired infection defined as infection that occurs after hospitalization which can prolong care and resulted in high cost of care. The prevention of Nosocomial infection can protect and decrease infection rate in health professionals and patient The nurse as a media as well as a source of caution must exist when doing inappropriate actions can be useful. For that the role of nurses in the prevention of nosocomial infections is very important. The incidence of nosocomial infection in Siloam Hospitals Labuan Bajo was 0.15%. The incidence of nosocomial infections in Siloam Hospitals Labuan Bajo is peptic ulcer, plebitis, and respiratory tract infections (pneumonia) and the most common occurrence of phlebitis .The aim of this study is to identify the nurses’ knowledge about preventing nosocomial infection. The design of this study is quantitative descriptive with total sampling of 18 nurses by using questtionnaire as the research instrument. Research nurse knowledge about the prevention of nosocomial infections acquired 11 respondents (61.1%) good knowledge, 7 reponden (39%) and low (0%). Suggestions for further research to research about factors – factors that affect the knowledge of nurses as well as the observations of the behavior of nurses in the prevention of nosocomial infections.
