Abstract

Nurses are responsible for administering intravenous therapy as instructed by physician. Nurses must have knowledge of nursing practice that related to assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the treatment of intravenous access. Phlebitis are characterized by redness, swelling, pain and sense of hard around the area of the stabbing or along the veins. Th e impact of phlebitis for patients that is discomfort, adding new kanul care, long term care and high cost of care. To minimiza the risk of infections, nurses need to be aware and recognize phlebitis events. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of nurse knowledge about phlebitis in patients who installed intravenous cannula in IPD 1 inpatient room SHLB.This research uses descriptive design research with quantitative approach. Population research that all IPD 1 Siloam Hospitals Labuan Bajo with number of 18 nurses. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The results showed that the level of knowledge of the nurses about the incidence of phlebitis in patients with intravenous cannula in IPD 1 inpatient room Siloam Hospitals Labuan Bajo was good as many as 5 respondents (27.8%), quite good as many as 10 respondents (55.6%) and less good 3 respondents (16.7%). The level of nurse knowledge about phlebitis incidence mostly with good enough category as many as 10 respondents (55,6%) / Perawat bertanggung jawab dalam pemberian terapi intravena yang diinstruksikan dokter. Perawat harus memiliki pengetahuan tentang praktik keperawatan yang berhubungan dengan pengkajian, perencanaan, implementasi dan evaluasi dalam perawatan alat akses intravena. Phlebitis ditandai dengan kemerahan, pembengkakan, nyeri dan hangat sekitar daerah penusukan atau sepanjang vena. Dampak phlebitis bagi pasien yaitu ketidaknyamanan bagi pasien, pergantian kanul baru, menambah lama perawatan dan biaya perawatan yang tinggi. Untuk meminimalkan resiko infeksi, perawat perlu menyadari dan mengenali kejadian phlebitis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui tingkatan pengetahuan perawat tentang kejadian phlebitis pada pasien yang terpasang kanula intravena di ruang rawat inap IPD 1 SHLB. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian ini yaitu semua perawat di ruang rawat inap IPD 1 Siloam Hospitals Labuan Bajo dengan jumlah 18 orang dan teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah total sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan perawat tentang phlebitis pada pasien yang terpasang kanula intravena di Ruang Rawat Inap IPD 1 Siloam Hospitals Labuan Bajo yaitu baik sebanyak 5 responden (27,8%), cukup baik sebanyak 10 responden (55,6%) dan kurang baik 3 responden (16,7%). Tingkat pengetahuan perawat tentang kejadian phlebitis sebagian besar dengan kategori cukup baik sebanyak 10 responden (55,6%).
