Abstract
Infections prevention and control is one of the minimum standards that must be owned by the hospital. Everyone who is in the hospital area be it health workers, patients and visitors are exposed to the risk of nosocomial infection that is now known as Health-care Associated Infections (HAIs). The incidence of nosocomial infection continues to increase to 9% (variation 3-21%) or more than 1.4 milion patient in inpatient room in hospital worldwide. Nosocomial infections can be controlled by hand hygiene. But not many patients and families are awere of the importance of maintaining hand hygiene. Even in Siloam Hospitals Bali more than 50% of patients and families in the one of all inpatient room do not understand about hand hygiene. This study aims to identify the implementation of hand hygiene education by nurse to patients and families at the inpatient room Siloam Hospitals Bali. The research method used is descriptive quantitative observasional. Sampling using perposive sampling technique. The result of this study are the application of hand hygiene education by nurses to patients and families in the hospitals ward of Siloam Hospitals Bali is bad with the value of 21,06%, but from 15 statements that there is one statements most often done by the nurse is the documentation information and education that has been given on the education record of 29 people (90,6%) / Pencegahan dan Pengendalian Infeksi (PPI) merupakan salah satu standar minimal yang harus dimiliki oleh rumah sakit. Setiap orang yang berada di area rumah sakit baik itu tenaga kesehatan, pasien atau pengunjung dihadapkan pada risiko terjadinya infeksi nosokomial yang saat ini dikenal dengan istilah Health-care Associated Infections (HAIs). Angka kejadian infeksi nosokomial terus meningkat hingga 9% (variasi 3-21%) atau lebih dari 1,4 juta pasien rawat inap rumah sakit di seluruh dunia. Infeksi nosokomial dapat dikendalikan dengan melakukan kebersihan tangan. Namun tidak banyak pasien dan keluarga menyadari akan pentingnya menjaga kebersihan tangan. Bahkan di Rumah Sakit Siloam Bali lebih dari 50% pasien dan keluarga di salah satu ruang rawat inap tidak memahami pentingnya hand hygiene. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi gambaran pelaksanaan edukasi hand hygiene oleh perawat kepada pasien dan keluarga di ruang rawat inap Rumah Sakit Siloam Bali. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif observasional. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian ini adalah pelaksanaan edukasi hand hygiene oleh perawat kepada pasien dan keluarga di ruang rawat inap Rumah Sakit Siloam Bali adalah buruk dengan hasil nilai rata-rata 21,06%, namun dari 15 pernyataan yang ada terdapat satu pernyataan yang paling sering dilakukan oleh perawat yaitu pendokumentasian informasi dan edukasi yang telah diberikan pada formulir catatan edukasi sebanyak 29 orang (90,6%).
