Abstract

Nosocomial infection is an infection that can happen to someone who come from hospital environment and can extend the patient’s treatment even causing increase number of sickness or death. Prevention of this infection is a responsibility of all individuals and health care providers especially nurses as the spearhead in controlling this infection. Hand hygiene is an easy and practical way to prevent nosocomial infection. The purpose of this research is to know the nurse’s perception of factors that can affect obedience to implement hand washing. This research uses descriptive qualitative method and phenomenology approach. Research data obtained by interview with active nurses in Rumah Sakit Siloam Dhirga Surya Medan with total sample four participants. The participating nurse selected by purposive sampling. When conducting interviews, researcher explain the purpose of the research, asking the consent of the participants or informed consent. After that, researchers will test the cognitive ability using Mini-Mental Stage Exam. The data was collected on November 2017. The finding of this themes include internal factor and external factors / Infeksi nosokomial adalah infeksi yang dapat terjadi kepada seseorang yang berasal dari lingkungan rumah sakit sehingga dapat memperpanjang masa perawatan seorang pasien bahkan dapat meningkatkan angka kesakitan dan kematian. Pencegahan infeksi menjadi tanggung jawab semua individu serta pemberi pelayanan kesehatan khususnya perawat yang merupakan “ujung tombak” dalam pengendalian infeksi nosokomial. Hand hygiene adalah cara mudah dan praktis dalam pencegahan infeksi nosokomial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi perawat terhadap faktor-faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kepatuhan dalam pelaksanaan cuci tangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode pendekatan fenomenologi. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan melakukan wawancara terhadap perawat yang sedang aktif bekerja di rumah sakit Siloam Dhirga Surya Medan dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak empat partisipan. Perawat yang menjadi partisipan dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling serta melalui uji etik yang dilakukan oleh Research, Community service dan Training Comitee (RCTC) Fakultas Keperawatan dan Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Pelita Harapan. Saat melakukan wawancara peneliti menjelaskan tujuan penelitian, meminta persetujuan dari partisipan atau informed concent. Setelah itu peneliti akan melakukan uji kemampuan kognitif menggunakan Mini-Mental Stase Exam (MMSE). Pengumpulan data berlangsung pada bulan November 2017. Tema yang dihasilkan yaitu, faktor internal dan faktor eksternal.
