Abstract

Hand hygiene is the most important basic technique in infection prevention and control. Infectious diseases are still one of the health problems in the world, including in Indonesia. Seen from the origin to the emergence of infections can originate from the community or come from the environment of the hospital. Hais are infections that occur in patients during maintenance in hospitals or other health care, HAIs is also a serious problem for the health and can be spread through hand contact. One factor of hand hygiene implementation is knowledge, good knowledge can affect a person behavior. The aim of this study was to know the description of the nurse's knowledge about hand hygiene in the prevention and control of infection in Siloam hospital Kupang. This research uses quantitative descriptive method. The sampling technique used total sampling with 23 samples. The result showed the level of knowledge of nurses hand hygiene as many as 21 people have a good knowledge ( 91,30 % ) and 2 people have the enough knowledge (8,7 % ). As a result, it can be concluded that most of the nurses at Siloam Kupang hospital have a good level of knowledge / Hand hygiene merupakan teknik dasar yang paling penting dalam pencegahan dan pengendalian infeksi. Penyakit infeksi masih merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan di dunia, termasuk di Indonesia. Dilihat dari asal munculnya infeksi dapat berasal dari komunitas atau berasal dari lingkungan rumah sakit. HAIs adalah infeksi yang terjadi pada pasien selama perawatan di rumah sakit atau fasilitas kesehatan lainnya, HAIs juga merupakan masalah yang serius bagi kesehatan dan dapat disebarkan melalui kontak tangan. Salah satu faktor pelaksanaan hand hygiene yaitu pengetahuan, pengetahuan yang baik dapat mempengaruhi perilaku seseorang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran tingkat pengetahuan perawat tentang hand hygiene dalam pencegahan dan pengendalian infeksi di Rumah Sakit Umum Siloam Kupang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan total sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 23 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat pengetahuan perawat tentang hand hygiene sebanyak 21 orang memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang baik (91,30%) dan 2 orang memiliki tingkat pengetahuan cukup (8,7%). Sebagai hasil perhitungan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar perawat di rumah sakit Siloam Kupang memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang baik.
