Abstract

Improper spectrum allocation of technology may cause severe interference between the two technologies. The interference may cause an outage. Therefore, a minimum guard band and or a Minimum Separation Distance (MSD) are required to reduce the impact. Considering the SIR and receiver sensitivity as the reference level, a simulation is developed in this research to find the outage probability and to find the minimum guard band and or the Minimum Separation Distance between GSM and CDMA using MATLAB. The minimum separation distance between GSM Base Station and CDMA Base Station to create the outage probability below 5% is 300 meters with 2.5 MHz guardband. For GSM MS and CDMA MS the minimum separation distance is 8 meters with 5 MHz guardband.
