Abstract

Saat ini, Indonesia sudah menjadi produsen ketiga tertinggi kakao di dunia, mengikuti Ghana sebagai kedua tertinggi, dan Pulau Gading sebagai tertinggi di dunia. Namun, masih terdapat inkonsistensi dan perhambatan yang dapat mempengaruhi prospek Indonesia sebagai produsen kakao di masa yang akan mendatang, yaitu diakibatkan oleh kurangnya perhatian terhadap petani, kurangnya kepedulian masyarakat akan coklat lokal dan kurangnya perkembangan potensi kakao di Indonesia. Masalah-masalah ini juga dirasakan oleh salah satu daerah yang mempunyai potensi tinggi di Indonesia, yakni Papua. Dibandingkan dengan wilayah lain di Indonesia, Papua sebenarnya mempunyai banyak lahan yang masih belum digarap potensinya dan juga mempunyai tingginya kuantitas dan kualitas kakao yang dapat dihasilkan oleh kakao Belanda yang ditumbuhkan di ibukota Papua, yakni Jayapura. Konsep bayangan arsitektur vernakular dan modern Indonesia berpotensi untuk menjadi manfaat bagi rancangan, yakni dari menolong sebagai solusi untuk ketiga permasalahan utama mengenai kakao. Ini dilakukan melalui strategi strategi konsep bayangan yang mempengaruhi aspek bentuk dan teknis dari rancangan. Perancangan cacao experience center berdasarkan konsep bayangan arsitektur vernakular dan modern Indonesia ini dibuat pada daerah Bunyom dengan mengikuti kriteria pemilihan tapak berdasarkan data user dan site, rumusan hasil riset dan strategi desain rancangan. Hasil penelitian bermanfaat dalam mengetahui penerapan teori konsep bayangan arsitektur vernakular dan modern Indonesia terhadap cacao experience center, strategi desain yang menggabungkan kedua hal ini, dan sebuah hasil perancangan guna untuk menjawab ketiga permasalahan yang menjadi hambatan bagi perkembangan kakao Indonesia./Currently, Indonesia has become the third highest producer of cacao in the world, following Ghana (2nd highest), and Pulau Gading as the highest in the world. However, there are still some inconsistencies and inhibitions that will affect Indonesia’s prospect as a cacao producer in the future, which is caused by lack of attention towards farmers, lack of care from people upon local chocolate and lack of development of cacao’s potential in Indonesia. These problems have been felt by one of the areas that have a big potential in Indonesia, which is Papua. Compared to other regions in Indonesia, there is still a lot of land in Papua that hasn’t been used to its full potential, as well as the high potential in quality and quantity of the Dutch Cacao Bean that has been grown in Papua’s capital city, which is Jayapura. The shadow concepts based on Indonesia’s Vernacular and Modern Architecture are potential as a benefit towards the project, in which it helped as a solution towards the three main problems about cacao. This is done through the strategies found in these shadow concepts that affected the formal and technical aspect of the project. The Cacao Experience Center - which is based on shadows concepts from Indonesia’s Vernacular and Modern Architecture - is made in the Bunyom Area with following the site selection criteria based on user and site data, the formulation of research results and the design strategies for the project. The research results will be beneficial in understanding the application of theories from shadow concepts based on Indonesia’s Vernacular and Modern Architecture towards the Cacao Experience Center, the design strategies that combine both, and the result of the project’s design that will be used to answer the three main problems that becomes an inhibition towards the development of Indonesia’s Cacao.
