Abstract

Campuran aspal yang biasanya digunakan adalah campuran aspal panas / Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA). HMA memerlukan suhu yang cukup tinggi dalam proses pembuatannya yaitu 140°C - 160°C, sehingga menimbulkan masalah dalam aspek lingkungan, yaitu emisi gas rumah kaca. Selain permasalahan lingkungan yang ditimbulkan, penuaan (ageing) juga salah satu masalah yang ditimbulkan dalam performa jangka panjang pada perkerasan jalan. Ageing terbagi menjadi 2 yaitu short term ageing dan long term ageing. Salah satu solusi untuk meminimalisir terjadinya ageing adalah dengan menambahkan polimer kedalamm campuran aspal. Polimer yang digunakan adalah superplast produksi Iterchemica. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh proses ageing pada sifat mekanis campuran aspal panas modifikasi polimer. Polimer yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini memiliki 4 kadar berbeda yaitu 0%, 4%, 5%, dan 6%. Ageing dalam penelitian ini berupa simulasi dengan cara oven ageing conditioning berdasarkan AASHTO. Benda uji akan disimpan dalam oven untuk mensimulasikan efek short term ageing dengan suhu 135°C selama 4 jam, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan suhu 85°C dengan variasi waktu yaitu 2 dan 8 hari untuk simulasi efek long term ageing. Pengujian sifat mekanis diuji dengan menggunakan uji Semi Circular Bending (SCB). Sifat mekanis yang diuji adalah tensile strength, toughness, crack resistance index, strain energy, dan flexibility index. Berdasarkan pengujian yang telah dilakukan, polimer dapat meningkatkan nilai sifat mekanis pada campuran dengan hasil kenaikan nilai maximum stress dan fracture toughness pada kadar polimer 5% sebesar 130,1%, fracture energy pada kadar 5% dengan persentase selisih 139%, cracking resistance index dengan selisih persentase 43% pada polimer 6%, dan flexibility index dengan persentase selisih sebesar 23% pada kadar 5%. / The asphalt mixture that is usually used is Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA). HMA requires a fairly high temperature in the manufacturing process, namely 140°C - 160°C, causing several enviromental problems such as GHE. In addition to the environmental problems, aging is also one of the issues regarding the long-term performance of road pavements. Aging is classified as short term aging and long term aging. One of solutions to minimize the impact of aging is to add polymer into the asphalt mixture. The polymer in this study is a superplast produced by Iterchemica. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of the aging process on the mechanical properties of polymer modified hot mix asphalt. The polymer used in this study had 4 different levels, 0%, 4%, 5%, and 6%. Aging in this study was in the form of a simulation by means of oven aging conditioning based on AASHTO. The specimens were stored in an oven to simulate the effects of short term aging at a temperature of 135°C for 4 hours, then followed by a temperature of 85°C with time variations of 2 and 8 days to simulate the effects of long term aging. The examination were carried out using the Semi Circular Bending (SCB) test. The mechanical properties tested were tensile strength, toughness, crack resistance index, strain energy, and flexibility index. Based on the tests that have been carried out, there were differences in the result between 2 days and 8 days aged specimen in terms of maximum stress and fracture toughness of 130.1%, fracture energy of 139%, CRI of 25%, and FI of 23%.
