Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) is a problem that occurs commonly in some points of everyone's lifetime. The first incident of LBP in a year is estimated to be 6.5% - 15.4%, whereas episodic LBP as much as 1.5% - 36%. Previous studies had stated that sitting for prolonged duration could be a risk factor for LBP, hence the reason to study the correlation between sitting duration with degree of LBP disability in batch 2018-2020 medical students of Pelita Harapan University was made.
This cross-sectional study needs samples as much as 70 participants meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Samples are collected with purposive sampling method, where they are given questionnaires for demographics, Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire, and International Physical Activity Questionnaire through the social media . Data collected will be analyzed with SPSS program and Chi Square method.
Significant positive correlation was found between sitting duration and degree of low back pain disability, where 82,9% of the samples had prolonged sitting duration (≥7 hours) and the majority of samples (52,9%) experiencing moderate – bedbound degree LBP.
