Abstract

The United States during Trump’s administration has seen the retaliation of women, having felt discriminated after Trump’s rhetoric and policies that set back the gender equality agenda. Trump has rolled back policies such as rights to abortion and the provision of contraceptives. The policies that has been set forth by the Obama legislation in an effort to improve gender equality. These policies has been under the wary eye of the white evangelical Christian right population of the U.S. They have felt a sense of exigency ever since Obama’s presidency as they have felt that their religious liberty was being stripped away. Why they felt that way was because Obama’s policies made them unable to employ their religious moral standards, such as laws to call the LGBTQ people their desired names and pronouns and having to provide abortion services and medical prescription for contraceptives. The evangelical Christians feel this exigency even though there has been no direct influence from these policies. This creates a suspicion that there is an underlying social perception that has formed between them and the other subject of the policy which are the feminists, which entails the constructivist understanding of institutionalization which would explain the policy itself being formed under the intersubjectivity of the two social constructs. The results show that there indeed is a correlation between the two, after further delving deeper into the psychological and theological aspects of how one perceives the other. And this has shown that their intersubjectivity has taken form in Trump’s policies.
