Abstract
Along with the advancement of technology, civilization is required to be able to adapt with it. One example of the use of technology in the construction industry these days is the vibration based non-destructive testing method. As structures age from year to year, the materials of that structures will degrade which can be caused by various factors such as weather, excessive load, material aging, and much more. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out tests to find out the actual condition in terms of the health of existing structures. In this case, an analysis was conducted related to vibration-based NDT using wind forces with 7 mps, 10 mps, 17 mps, and 20 mps velocity data from wind turbine propellers prototypes conducted by University of Stuttgart and University of Oldenburg. Then, results obtained from NDT were analyzed to obtain the characteristic of three types of propellers modeled as cantilever beams. The three types of beams are a beam with good condition to represent conditions where the beam is in normal circumstances, a beam given special treatment, then the degraded beam as a contrast. With those three types of beams, modeling must be done on program (SAP2000) to be analyzed whether the three types of beams are still suitable for use. Based on the analysis, the results for frequency of beam with good conditions is greater than degraded beams because it have higher rigidity while the frequency of heated beams tends to be higher than the beams with good conditions because when heated and treated properly, the beam also becomes more rigid. From the frequency analysis it can be concluded that wind speed has no effect on the frequency value of the system reviewed. Then by reviewing the maximum displacement when modulus of elasticity is lowered and compared it to the displacement permit, obtained a critical natural frequency of 21.93852 Hz from the SAP2000 model using a wind speed of 20 mps. Therefore, it can be concluded that the three types of propellers are still usable because the natural frequency of the model is greater than the critical natural frequency.
