Abstract
Kerusakan retak adalah jenis kerusakan yang sering ditemui pada struktur perkerasan aspal. Penggunaan polimer sebagai bahan tambahan diharapkan dapat memodifikasi sifat mekanis campuran aspal sehingga menghasilkan material dengan kualitas yang lebih baik. Polimer dapat ditambahkan dengan dua cara, yaitu dicampurkan kepada bitumen atau kepada aspal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan kuat tarik dan energi fraktur dari produk bitumen modifikasi polimer, dan aspal modifikasi polimer dengan tiga kadar yang berbeda, menggunakan uji kuat tarik langsung pada tiga kondisi kecepatan pembebanan yang berbeda. Peningkatan kuat tarik tertinggi adalah benda uji aspal yang menggunakan bitumen modifikasi polimer pada kecepatan pembebanan 0,1 mm/s yaitu sebesar 349%. Benda uji aspal dengan bitumen modifikasi polimer (PMB) dan aspal modifikasi polimer (PMA) dengan kadar 5% menunjukkan peningkatan yang sama pada kecepatan pembebanan 0,3 mm/s dan 0,5 mm/s dengan nilai masing-masing peningkatannya 286% dan 57%. Peningkatan energi fraktur tertinggi pada semua kecepatan pembebanan ada pada benda uji PMB yaitu sebesar 597% pada 0,1 mm/s, 189% pada 0,3 mm/s, dan 67% pada 0,5 mm/s. Kecepatan pembebanan yang berbeda juga sangat mempengaruhi kuat tarik dan energi fraktur aspal. / Cracking is a type of damage that are often encountered in asphalt pavement structures. The use of polymer as an additive is expected to modify the mechanical properties of the asphalt mixture so as to produce a material with better quality. Polymer addition can be done in two ways, namely by mixing it to bitumen or asphalt. This study aims to compare the tensile strength and the fracture energy of polymer modified bitumen, and polymer modified asphalt with three different polymer percentage, using direct tension test at three different loading speed conditions. The asphalt specimen using polymer modified bitumen shows the highest increase of tensile strength at 0,1 mm/s loading speed, which is 349%. Asphalt specimen using polymer modified bitumen (PMB) and polymer modified asphalt (PMA) shows the same increase of tensile strength at 0,3 mm/s and 0,5 mm/s loading speed, which is 286% and 57% respectively. PMB specimen also shows the highest increase of fracture energy in all tested loading speeds, which is 597% at 0,1 mm/s. 189% at 0,3 mm/s, and 67% at 0,5 mm/s. Different loading speeds also greatly affect the tensile strength and fracture energy of the asphalt.
