Abstract

vi ABSTRAK Clara Juwita Natalia Koanak (01174190024) FORMULASI DAN EVALUASI SEDIAAN SERUM ANTIOKSIDAN DARI EKSTRAK ETANOL 70% BIJI ALPUKAT (Persea americana Mill.) Karya Tulis Ilmiah, Fakultas Ilmu Kesehatan (2022) (xv + 74 halaman; 21 tabel; 12 gambar; 9 lampiran) Biji alpukat merupakan salah satu sumber antioksidan alami yang dapat digunakan untuk menangkal radikal bebas sehingga kulit tetap terjaga kelembapannya, halus, fleksibel, dan elastis. Namun, pada umumnya biji alpukat kurang dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat dan dibuang menjadi limbah. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat formulasi sediaan serum antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol 70% biji alpukat. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian antioksidan ekstrak, pembuatan sediaan serum, pengujian aktivitas antioksidan basis dan sediaan serum, evaluasi mutu fisik serta stabilitas serum selama 14 hari. Hasil ekstraksi diperoleh rendemen ekstrak sebesar 35,2813%, memiliki kandungan fitokimia yaitu alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin, fenol dan triterpenoid, serta memiliki aktivitas antioksidan sedang dengan IC50 sebesar 91 μg/mL. Ketiga formula sediaan memenuhi persyaratan mutu fisik sediaan serum serta stabil dalam penyimpanan selama 14 hari. Namun, hasil pengujian antioksidan sediaan menunjukkan bahwa ketiga formula tidak memiliki aktivitas antioksidan. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol 70% biji alpukat dapat diformulasikan dalam sediaan serum dengan menggunakan bahan peningkat viskositas natrosol, xanthan gum, dan carbopol namun diperlukan pengembangan dalam metode pengujian antioksidan sediaan serum serta penyiapan sampel uji yang baik agar zat aktif dari sediaan serum dapat tertarik dan terbaca saat dilakukan pengujian menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Thesis, Faculty of Health Sciences (2022) (xv + 74 pages; 21 tables; 12 figures, 9 appendices) Avocado seeds are a source of natural antioxidants that can be used to ward off free radicals so that the skin is kept moisturized, smooth, flexible, and elastic. However, in general, avocado seeds are not used by the community and are disposed of as waste. Therefore, this study aimed to formulate an antioxidant serum preparation from 70% ethanol extract of avocado seeds. In this study, antioxidant testing of extracts, preparation of serum preparations, testing of basic antioxidant activity and serum preparations, evaluation of physical and serum quality was carried out for 14 days. Extraction results obtained extract yield of 35.2813%, contains phytochemicals namely alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, phenols and triterpenoids, and has moderate antioxidant activity with IC50 of 91 g/mL. The third formula meets the physical requirements of serum preparations and is stable in storage for 14 days. However, the antioxidant test results showed that the third formula did not have antioxidant activity. Thus it can be said that the 70% ethanol extract of the seeds can be tested in serum preparations using viscosity enhancing agents natrosol, xanthan gum, and carbopol, but development is needed in testing serum preparations as well as good sample preparation so that the active substances from serum preparations can be attracted and read when tested using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer.
