Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kreatif termasuk dalam salah satu kemampuan penting yang berperan dalam berpikir kritis hingga pemecahan masalah. Salah satu cara yang dapat digunakan untuk menstimulasi kemampuan berpikir kreatif adalah dengan aktivitas musik. Terdapat berbagai metode aktivitas musik salah satunya dengan drum circle. Metode ini lebih menitikberatkan pada proses berkreasi seperti improvisasi hingga komposisi sehingga berpotensi menstimulasi kemampuan berpikir kreatif. Oleh karena itu metode drum circle menjadi variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini. Tipe penelitian ini adalah controlled lab experiment dengan desain randomized pre-test post-test control group design. Subjek adalah 60 siswa sekolah menengah pertama kelas tujuh. Pengukuran kemampuan berpikir kreatif dilakukan menggunakan Tes Kreativitas Figural (TKF). Analisis data dilakukan dengan t-test independent sample dan menghasilkan t= 2.514, signifikansi 0.019 (p<0.05) sehingga berarti terdapat perbedaan tingkat kemampuan berpikir kreatif antara kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Hasil tersebut membuktikan bahwa metode drum circle dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif. Hasil studi ini menunjukkan bahwa sebaiknya pembelajaran musik bagi siswa lebih menekankan pada proses improvisasi hingga komposisi seperti dalam metode drum circle agar dapat menstimulasi kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa / Creative thinking is one of the important skills needed for critical thinking and problem solving. Musical activity is one of many ways to stimulate creative thinking ability. There are many musical activity method and one of them is drum circle. This method focuses on creative process such as improvising and composing, thus potential to stimulate creative thinking ability. Hence drum circle is chosen to be the independent variable in this study. Research type used in this study is controlled lab experiment and the research design is pre-test post-test control group design. The participants are 60 students from junior high school who are currently at 7th grade. Creative thinking ability is measured using TKF. Data analyzed by using ttest independent sample and the result gained is t= 2.514, signification is 0.019 (p<0.05) therefore it there's difference on the level of creative thinking ability between experiment group and control group. This result proves that drum circle method can enhance creative thinking ability. The result of this study shows that music education should focus more on processes done in drum circle such as improvising and composing to stimulate creative thinking ability of the students
