Abstract
The Asia-Pacific region is an area that has high potential in the world economy, so this region is used as an avenue for integration and international cooperation. The Asia-Pacific region is also a platform for states with great power ambitions, such as China and the United States, to compete in giving their vision and influence to countries in the region. As a middle-power, Australia seeks to actively participate amid an area of high economic potential, competition in the Asia-Pacific region by participating in various international organizations and agreements, one of which is the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The function and role of the CPTPP is not solely about free trade, but there are national interests and greater global goals for Australia. In this study, the writer aims to analyse Australia's various national and global interests in encouraging CPTPP cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. In explaining Australia's interests, the writer uses descriptive data analysis techniques by presenting secondary data obtained through literature studies. The results of this study state that the CPTPP is an instrument for Australia to contribute directly to the Asia-Pacific Region as an offer to build a regional democratic construct, and additionally promote integration in the form of strategic trade liberalization.
