Abstract

Self-esteem is something that is needed and affects psychological health. It is influenced by many factors, one of which is religiosity. This study discusses whether self-esteem have any relations with religiosity in Indonesia through Muslim and Christian students. Self-esteem is a perception of oneself that is reflected through their interaction with others and their environment. On the other hand, religiosity itself has many definitions, but it can be said as an interest and engagement towards a religion. However, some research have different statements about the relations of the two variables based on their research. The result of the correlation analysis from 189 participant reveals that religiosity has a significantly positive relationship with self-esteem (ρ = .33 > .05). Results of the correlation analysis based on religion stated that both Islam and Christianity had the same conclusion. Then, in the difference test analysis of the comparative results of the correlation based on religious groups, it was stated that the two did not show any difference. The analysis of the results of the correlation of self-esteem with the religiosity dimensions and the results of the comparison of the correlation dimensions based on religious groups will be explained further. / Self-esteem merupakan suatu hal yang dibutuhkan dan berpengaruh terhadap kesehatan psikologis. Hal ini dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor, yang salah satunya adalah religiositas. Penelitian membahas mengenai apakah self-esteem memiliki hubungan dengan religiositas di Indonesia melalui mahasiswa beragama Islam dan Kristen. Self-esteem merupakan sebuah persepsi akan dirinya sendiri dimana akan dicerminkan melalui interaksinya dengan orang lain dan lingkungannya. Di sisi lainnya, religiositas sendiri memiliki banyak definisi, tetapi religiositas merupakan ketertarikan dan keterlibatan terhadap agama. Namun, beberapa penelitian sebelumnya memberikan pernyataan yang berbeda-beda mengenai hubungan kedua variabel berdasarkan hasil penelitiannya. Hasil analisis korelasi dari 189 partisipan menunjukkan bahwa religiositas memiliki hubungan positif secara signifikan dengan self-esteem (ρ = .33 > .05). Hasil analisis korelasi berdasarkan agama menyatakan baik agama Islam ataupun Kristen memiliki kesimpulan yang sama. Lalu, dalam analisa uji beda, hasil perbandingan dari korelasi berdasarkan kelompok agama menyatakan bahwa keduanya tidak menunjukkan adanya perbedaan. Analisa dari hasil korelasi self-esteem dengan dimensi religiositas dan hasil perbandingan korelasi dimensi berdasarkan kelompok agama akan dijelaskan lebih lanjut.
