Abstract
The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) program, which is one of the government's strategic initiatives, was established with the aim of enhancing the international perception of South Korea among students and academics from outside. This program has been instrumental in offering financial aid and educational opportunities to Indonesian students. Its primary objective is to foster personal and intellectual growth of these individuals. Additionally, it serves as a catalyst for promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding between South Korea and Indonesia. The data presented in this study is derived from interviews conducted with recipients of the program, as well as from a range of secondary sources such as comprehensive book reviews and online searches. This study aims to analyze the objectives and implementation in a specific scholarship program, shedding light on South Korea's efforts to cultivate foreign alliances and enhance its global reputation. This study examines the influence of the GKS program on public opinion in Indonesia, with a specific focus on its recipients. Doing so contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of how this scholarship program shapes the perspectives of the South Korean nation within the Indonesian populace. This study holds great importance for policymakers and educators seeking to improve the efficacy of public diplomacy endeavours within the realm of international education programs.
