Abstract
The emergence of South Korean boy band Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) is a phenomenon. It all started because the boy band consisting of RM, J-Hope, Suga, Jin, V, Jungkook, and Jimin is often considered an important marker of Korean Pop (K-Pop) being accepted by the world. The South Korean government doesn't even want to be left behind. The government also made BTS a part of soft power diplomacy. The author is also interested in researching it. Among other things, this research aims to try to analyze the South Korean government's goal of making BTS and K-Pop a tool of diplomacy, especially soft power diplomacy, how BTS raises the country's status, and what South Korea gains from BTS's popularity in the eyes of the world's youth, especially Indonesia. This research uses qualitative research methods to measure the effectiveness of soft power diplomacy. A method that is expected to explain the relationship between BTS, soft power diplomacy, and South Korea. The results showed that BTS is an effective medium to introduce South Korea's soft power diplomacy. BTS is also able to be a representative of South Korea to reach young Indonesians and the world. BTS is also able to represent South Korea as a UN ambassador. An achievement that is difficult to be equaled by other South Korean celebrities.
