Abstract

Penelitian yang telah dilakukan terhadap gay dan lesbian mengindikasikan adanya disonansi kognitif. Penelitian-penelitian tersebut mengidentifikasi disonansi kognitif melalui kompenen orientasi seksual LGBT dengan kompenen identitas budaya. Sedangkan penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah aspek apa saja yang mengakibatkan disonansi pada seorang individu LGBT melalui kompenen orientasi seksual LGBT, dan kompenen identitas agama Kristen secara spesifik beragama Khatolik. Disonansi kognitif merupakan ketimpangan antara perilaku dengan nilai yang diyakini. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ialah metode kualitatif. Narasumber sejumlah 3 orang yang dipilih pada penelitian ini dinilai sesuai dengan kriteria individu berorientasi seksual LGBT, serta memeluk agama Kristen secara spesifik beragama Khatolik. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui proses wawancara, yang diolah dengan teknik selective coding, dan dianalisis dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Hasil temuan penilitian ini memperlihatkan adanya disonansi kognitif pada individu LGBT beragama Kristen secara spesifik beragama Khatolik. Inkonsistensi logika dan nilai budaya menjadi sumber disonansi kognitif yang dialami. Dimensi emosional dan wisdom of purchase merupakan faktor pembentuknya. Adapun cara mengatasi disonansi kognitif, yakni dengan mengubah elemen tingkah laku dan menambah elemen kognitif baru. Saran agar dapat dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut dengan komposisi elemen orientasi seksual lain dalam spektrum LGBTQ+, yang menganut agama Kristen atau agama dan kepercayaan lain di Indonesia./Research that has been conducted on gays and lesbians indicates the existence of cognitive dissonance. These studies identify cognitive dissonance through the component of LGBT sexual orientation and the component of cultural identity. Meanwhile, this research aims to examine what aspects cause dissonance in an LGBT individual through the components of LGBT sexual orientation, and components of Christian religious identity, specifically Catholicism. Cognitive dissonance is a discrepancy between behavior and believed values. The method used in the research is qualitative. The 3 resource persons selected for this research were assessed as meeting the criteria for LGBT sexual orientation individuals, as well as embracing Christianity, specifically Catholicism. Research data was obtained through an interview process, processed using selective coding techniques, and analyzed using descriptive analysis methods. The findings of this research show that there is cognitive dissonance in LGBT individuals who are Christians, specifically Catholics. The inconsistency of logic and cultural values is the source of the cognitive dissonance experienced. The emotional dimension and wisdom of purchase are the forming factors. The way to overcome cognitive dissonance is by changing behavioral elements and adding new cognitive elements. Suggestions that further research can be carried out with the composition of other sexual orientation elements in the LGBTQ+ spectrum, those who adhere to Christianity or other religions and beliefs in Indonesia.
