Abstract

The population of elderly in Indonesia continue to increase per year. With the progression of age comes a decrease in physical ability, resulting in the increased likelihood of falling. Previously, a study has been done between gymnastic exercise and risk of falling. The study showed that gymnastics may reduce the risk of falling in elderly. Besides gymnastic, walking exercise also shows potential in strengthening of muscle and improving balance thus reducing the incidence of falling in elderly. In addition, walking exercise appears to be most common exercise to do in elderly and also the easiest exercise to. Exercise should also be balanced with optimal duration per week in order to yield maximum benefits. Hence, further study must be done to investigate the relationship between duration of walking exercise per week with decreasing the incidence of fall in the elderly. The purpose of this study is to find the relationship between the duration of walking exercise per week with the risk of falling incident in elderly. Optimal duration of walking exercise per week will decrease incidence of falling. This study is retrospective and designed to be analytic and is a cross-sectional study aimed at determining the relationship between the duration of exercise per week in decreasing the likelihood of incidence of falling in elderly. The study is done through interviewing the sample. Sample size is collected consecutively until quota is met in the sampling process. The sample will be asked for consent before the interview and the result will then be analyzed. Data obtained will then be processed using the program SPPSS version 25. From the result of the interview with 128 respondent, there were 115 (89,8%) people doing walking exercise. 99 (86%) people out of 115 were doing walking exercise over 150 minutes per week. Of the group who performed walking exercise above 150 minutes, 7 (7,10%) experienced fall incidence. Where as from the group that performed walking exercise under 150 minutes (16), 10 (62,5%) experienced a fall incidence / Di Indonesia , jumlah penduduk lanjut usia (Lansia) terus mengalami peningkatan setiap tahunnya. Pada usia lanjut, manusia akan mengalami penurunan dalam kemampuan fisik. Hal tersebut dapat menyebabkan lansia menjadi rawan terhadap jatuh. Sebelumnya, sudah pernah dilakukan penelitian mengenai olahraga senam dengan insiden jatuh. Dalam penelitian tersebut didapatkan bahwa, olahraga senam dapat mengurangi risiko terjadinya jatuh pada lansia. Selain senam, olahraga jalan juga memiliki faktor yang dapat memperkuat otot, dan keseimbangan sehingga dapat mengurangi insiden jatuh pada lansia. Olahraga jalan merupakan olahraga yang paling mudah untuk dilakukan. Olahraga harus diimbangi dengan durasi yang optimal dengan demikian durasi olahraga yang optimal tiap minggunya, akan menghasilkan manfaat yang lebih baik. Sehingga perlu diteliti lebih lanjut antara hubungan durasi olahraga jalan perminggu dengan menurunkan insiden jatuh pada lansia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara durasi olahraga jalan perminggu dengan risiko insiden jatuh pada lansia. Hipotesis penelitian ini adalah Durasi olahraga jalan perminggu yang optimal akan menurunkan insiden jatuh. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian retrospektif menggunakan desain studi analitik dengan studi potong lintang yang bertujuan untuk mementukan hubungan antara durasi olahraga perminggu dengan menurunkan insiden jatuh pada lansia. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara wawancara .Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan cara konsekutif sampai kuota terpenuhi dalam proses pengambilan sampel. Sampel akan di minta persetujuannya untuk di wawancara dan kemudian hasil wawancara akan di analisa. Data yang didapatkan kemudian diolah menggunakan program SPSS versi 25. Dari hasil wawancara kepada 128 responden didapatkan sebanyak 115 orang melakukan olahraga jalan, dari 115 (89,8%) orang tersebut 99 (86,1%) diantaranya melakukan olahraga jalan diatas 150 menit perminggu. Dari kelompok yang melakukan olahraga jalan diatas 150 menit, 7 (7,10%) diantaranya mengalami insidensi jatuh. Sedangkan dari kelompok yang melakukan olahraga jalan dibawah 150 menit (16) , 10 (62,5%) diantaranya mengalami insidensi jatuh.
