Abstract
The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has introduced the concept of robot lawyers, which contributes significantly to improving the efficiency, accuracy and accessibility of legal services. This study aims to explore the regulatory preparations needed to accommodate the use of robot lawyers by the justice-seeking public in Indonesia. In this context, the study examines the legal, ethical and practical challenges faced in the integration of robot lawyers into the Indonesian legal system, as well as comparing with the implementation in other countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Estonia. The research used a qualitative approach with normative methods to collect data from legal practitioners, policy makers, and technology developers. The results show that significant legal adaptations are needed, especially related to the definition of advocates, licensing requirements, and ethical standards. Regulations should include data security standards, algorithm transparency, and effective oversight mechanisms to ensure fairness and accountability. With proper regulation, robot lawyers can increase access to more affordable and efficient legal services, while maintaining the integrity and fairness of the legal system. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the government, legal professionals, and technology developers in designing an ethical and effective regulatory framework for integrating robot lawyers in the Indonesian justice system.
