Abstract

Kata kunci : Tingkat stres, Gastrointestinal Reflux Disease, GERD/ Background : Gastrointestinal Reflux Disease (GERD), a chronic digestive disease caused by the reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus, with a prevalence of 22.8% in Indonesia. Stress is one of the risk factors that can trigger GERD symptoms, especially in medical school students who are a vulnerable population. This can be seen from research conducted in Saudi Arabia which states that the prevalence of GERD in medical students is 25% compared to non-medical students, 23.8%. Therefore, this study was conducted to prove the relationship between stress levels and GERD in medical school students. Objectives : To determine the prevalence of GERD and stress in Pelita Harapan University Faculty of Medical Students Methods : This study uses an analytic study type with an unpaired comparative cross- sectional analytic observational design. Using two questionnaires which is the PSS-10 to assess stres and GERD-Q to diagnose GERD. The result of the study are going to analysed using the fisher method. Results : Out of 106 respondents, 75 respondents met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Among the 75 respondents, 16 were male (21.3%) and the other 59 were female (78.7%). There was a non-significant relationship between stress level and GERD (p = 0.467, OR = 0.441) among University of Pelita Harapan Medical Students. Conclusion : This research concluded that there is no significant relationship between stress level and GERD, which could be caused by several factors and confounding in University of Pelita Harapan Medical Students.
