Singkawang serves as a tangible example of how ethnic diversity can be managed through cultural acculturation to foster harmony among groups. Using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, this research examines educational efforts to instill values of tolerance in schools, particularly through multicultural education programs at SMP Bruder Singkawang. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with students, teachers, and the school principal and were analyzed using triangulation techniques to ensure the validity of the results. The validation of interview findings reveals that the government and the community embrace one another regardless of differences. The study's findings indicate that school activities incorporating elements of Tionghoa, Dayak, and Melayu cultures—through extracurricular programs and cultural events—play a vital role in fostering tolerance among students. TIDAYU plays a significant role in creating a tolerant atmosphere in Singkawang, particularly within educational settings such as SMP Bruder. The school curriculum is designed to emphasize and respect cultural diversity while employing various intercultural communication strategies to strengthen interethnic relationships and create a harmonious environment. TIDAYU culture serves as a strong foundation for shaping students’ character to respect differences, supported by a curriculum based on Pancasila values. Based on the findings from five interviewees, the research identified a model of intercultural communication practices at SMP Bruder Singkawang, demonstrating that the school adopts a comprehensive approach to promoting harmony and preventing intercultural conflicts.
