Abstract

This study aims to analyze marriage intentions among young adults in Jabodetabek using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework to understand the influence of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control. Data were collected from 286 young adults aged 25–40 years in Jabodetabek using a TPB-based questionnaire that was culturally adapted and validated. The regression results showed that perceived behavioral control was the dominant predictor of marriage intention (β = 0.733, p < 0.001), followed by subjective norm (β = 0.211, p < 0.001). In contrast, attitude did not have a significant influence (β = -0.080, p = 0.123). These findings highlight that financial readiness, emotional maturity, and social influences from family are more significant than individual attitude toward marriage in collectivistic cultures like Indonesia. This study provides important insights into the dynamics of marriage intentions within the social and cultural context of Indonesia. Practical implications include the development of premarital education programs, job skills training, and policy-based interventions to enhance personal readiness and social support, thereby increasing marriage intentions among urban young adults./Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis intensi menikah di kalangan dewasa muda di Jabodetabek menggunakan kerangka Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) untuk memahami pengaruh sikap (attitude), norma subjektif (subjective norm), dan kontrol perilaku yang dirasakan (perceived behavioral control).
