Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan zaman yang semakin pesat dan kehadiran era globalisasi yang membawa pengaruh budaya asing, apresiasi terhadap budaya Indonesia perlahan mulai berkurang. Masalah ini diakibatkan karena kemajuan teknologi yang membawa perubahan dalam masyarakat dengan merubah pola interaksi sosial, memperkenalkan model budaya baru, serta mendorong atau memungkinkan terciptanya tindakan-tindakan generatif sehingga masyarakat Indonesia sekarang lebih tertarik pada budaya luar dibandingkan dengan warisan budaya lokal. Hal ini mengakibatkan proyek akhir ini akan dibuat sebuah perancangan konsep visual melalui salah satu bentuk teknologi yaitu video game. Tujuan dibuat perancangan ini adalah menghasilkan konsep visual video game bergenre RPG yang mampu menyediakan edukasi akan budaya Indonesia khususnya budaya kota kecil dan juga makhluk mitologi serta karakter legenda dari budaya Indonesia bagi anak-anak remaja Indonesia. Metode yang diterapkan dalam proyek akhir ini meliputi studi pustaka dan wawancara. Studi pustaka dilakukan dengan menelusuri berbagai buku, jurnal, dan artikel ilmiah yang relevan dengan topik yang sedang dianalisis. Selanjutnya, dilakukan studi wawancara kepada Eka Pramudita selaku produser dari game “A Space for the Unbound” yang menjadi salah satu referensi dalam proses mendesain environment untuk proyek akhir ini. Visual dari karakter desain menghasilkan 10 karakter, 5 karakter manusia dan non-manusia. Karakter-karakter tersebut didesain berdasarkan budaya Indonesia, untuk manusia berdasarkan anak-anak remaja Indonesia dan untuk non-manusia berdasarkan makhluk mitologi dan karakter legenda budaya Indonesia, secara khusus dari budaya Sunda. Melalui tugas akhir ini, akan tercipta sebuah konsep visual video game berdasarkan video game Persona 4 yang dapat meningkatkan kesadaran dan menginspirasi masyarakat Indonesia mengenai budaya, warisan, serta makhluk mitologi yang ada di Indonesia. / Along with the rapid development of the era and the presence of the globalization era that brings foreign cultural influences, appreciation for Indonesian culture has slowly begun to decrease. This problem is caused by technological advances that bring changes in society by changing social interaction patterns, introducing new cultural models, and encouraging or enabling the creation of generative actions so that Indonesian society is now more interested in foreign cultures than local cultural heritage. This resulted in this final project being created to design a visual concept through one form of technology, video games. The purpose of this design is to produce a visual concept for an RPG genre video game that is able to provide education about Indonesian culture, especially small town culture and also mythological creatures and legendary characters from Indonesian culture for Indonesian teenagers. The methods applied in this final project include literature studies and interviews. Literature studies are conducted by tracing various books, journals, and scientific articles that are relevant to the topic being analyzed. Furthermore, an interview study was conducted with Eka Pramudita as the producer of the game "A Space for the Unbound" which is one of the references in the process of designing the environment for this final project. The visuals of the design characters produce 10 characters, 5 human characters and non-human characters. The characters are designed based on Indonesian culture, for humans based on Indonesian teenagers and for non-humans based on mythological creatures and legendary characters of Indonesian culture, specifically from Sundanese culture. Through this final project, a visual concept of a video game will be created based on the Persona 4 video game that can raise awareness and inspire Indonesian people about the culture, heritage, and mythological creatures that exist in Indonesia.
