Abstract

Advancements in Virtual Reality (VR) technology have unlocked new opportunities in military training by providing realistic, safe, and efficient simulation environments. However, most existing VR combat simulations lack a focus on collaboration, which is a critical factor in the success of military missions. This study aims to develop a multiplayer-based collaborative VR simulation system designed to enhance teamwork and tactical skills among military personnel, with a specific focus on close-range combat scenarios. The study adopts the Agile Scrum methodology to guide the iterative development of the system, ensuring adaptability to user needs. The system includes features such as dynamic weather conditions (rainy and sunny) and the use of the A* algorithm to optimize Non-Player Character (NPC) movement. Virtual combat arenas were designed using Unity3D and Blender, and Oculus Meta Quest 2 devices were integrated to enhance immersion. The system was evaluated through a combination of questionnaires, observations, and performance metrics such as accuracy scores and training duration, with feedback from military respondents. The results indicate that the developed collaborative VR simulation system has the potential to improve tactical skills and teamwork. Moreover, the system provides a more realistic training experience compared to certain aspects of traditional methods. This study is expected to contribute to the development of technology-based military training methods.
