Abstract
Rekomendasi: Peneliti menyarankan agar peneliti selanjutnya untuk berfokus kepada faktor lain yang dapat mempengaruhi tingkat empati dari caregiver dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif untuk mendalami gambaran empati dari caregiver./Background: Caregivers of people with mental disorders (ODGJ) have an important role in caring for ODGJ clients by providing empathetic care and supporting the client's recovery. The care of ODGJ is one of the long-term treatment and has a great responsibility because it can often cause physical, emotional, social, and psychological burdens that can cause stress, anxiety, and depression and have an impact on reducing the level of empathy that affects the quality of care to clients. Research Objectives: This study aims to identify the relationship between the level of depression, anxiety, and stress with the level of empathy in caregivers of ODGJ at the DKI Jakarta Provincial Social Institution. Research Methods: This study used a correlational quantitative design. The number of samples obtained was 61 respondents using convenience sampling technique. The research instruments used were the Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale - 21 (DASS-21) questionnaire and the Toronto Empathy Questionnaire (TEQ) using a Likert scale. Results: This study showed that the majority of caregivers experienced normal depression (98.4%), anxiety (93.4%), and stress (98.4%). The results of empathy obtained as many as (75.4%) caregivers have low empathy. Spearman test results showed that there was no significant relationship between the level of depression (p = 0.572), anxiety (p = 0.839), and stress (p = 0.572) with empathy. In conclusion, it is known that the level of depression, anxiety, and stress are not significantly related to the level of empathy of caregivers of ODGJ. Recommendation: The researcher suggests that future researchers focus on other factors that may affect the level of empathy of caregivers by using qualitative research methods to explore the picture of empathy from caregivers.
