Abstract
Mahasiswa fakultas Kedokteran yang berada dalam tahap sebelum koassistensi (pendidikan preklinik) mengemban beban studi yang sangat berat selama lima setengah tahun. Dalam masa studi yang panjang ini, mereka pun memiliki jadwal yang amat padat. Mereka juga harus menguasai teori maupun kemampuan keterampilan klinik dasar. Bahkan mereka harus menghadapi berbagai ujian secara intens. Beberapa hal ini dapat memicu mereka untuk mengalami academic burnout. Oleh sebab itu, mahasiswa fakultas Kedokteran pada tahap pendidikan preklinik membutuhkan hope yang tinggi untuk mendorong adanya pemikiran hopeful saat mereka menghadapi banyak tuntutan akademis maupun waypower yang memampukan mereka untuk membuat perencanaan terstruktur dalam menjalankan seluruh tanggung jawab di tengah kesibukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti pengaruh hope terhadap academic burnout pada 276 mahasiswa fakultas Kedokteran yang berada dalam tahap pendidikan preklinik. The Hope Scale dan Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey adalah instrumen penelitian yang digunakan di dalam penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hope memiliki pengaruh terhadap dimensi kelelahan emosional dan dimensi professional efficacy yang rendah dari variabel academic burnout. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa hope tidak memengaruhi dimensi sinisme dari variabel academic burnout. Peneliti turut mendiskusikan penemuan lain yang berkaitan dengan pengaruh hope terhadap academic burnout. / Preclinical Medical students bear a very tough study load for five years. During this long study period, they also have to cope with a very hectic schedule. They have to master theory as well as basic clinical skills. They must cope with very intensive testing, too. These pressures can trigger academic burnout in them. Therefore, preclinical Medical students need high levels of hope to promote a positive thought process when facing academic demands, as well as the waypower to enable them to develop and execute a structured plan for the implementation all of responsibilities when they are busy. This research aimed to study the effect of hope on 276 preclinical Medical students’ academic burnout. The Hope Scale and Maslach Burnout Inventory- Student Survey were research instruments used in the study. The results of this study showed that hope has an effect on emotional exhaustion dimension and low professional efficacy dimension from academic burnout variable. The results of this study also showed that hope does not have an effect on cynicism dimension from academic burnout variable. Researcher also discussed other findings related with the effect of hope on academic burnout.
