Abstract

Indonesia is beginning to implement sustainable construction with low greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. However, there is literature research on GHG emissions in warehouse construction, especially in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to explain the measurement GHG emissions of construction materials in a warehouse construction project in Tangerang, to measure the volume of construction materials used, to measure GHG emissions from the use of construction materials in the warehouse being studied, to measure the impact of using low GHG emission materials, and measuring the perception of employees of general contractors in Indonesia regarding factors related to the feasibility of using low GHG emission materials. Measurement of GHG emissions is carried out using a process-based method with the aid of a WBS tool. Measurement of respondents' perceptions uses data from questionnaires that are processed and analyzed using the Relative Importance Indicator. Of the construction materials measured, the materials with the largest volumes are soil, concrete and gravel. GHG emissions from warehouse building materials are 371.01 kgCO2e / m2. The materials with the largest greenhouse gas emissions are steel paint (29.31%), structural steel (27.34%), and concrete (25.88%). There are three alternative material recommendations, namely using slag cement, hollow precast concrete slabs, and efficient design to reduce steel use. If all recommendations are applied, it can reduce GHG emissions by 24.79%. On average, general contractor employees perceive that GHG emission mitigation and measurement of GHG emissions is only moderately important. The most important factors related to the feasibility of procuring low GHG emissions are technical factors related to material strength and encouragement from the government.
