Abstract

Pesan dalam video musik merupakan hasil konstruk pribadi seorang sutradara. Sebuah video musik yang mengandung representasi suatu ajaran agama tertentu pada umumnya akan sulit diterima oleh penonton secara global. Pada video musik BTS ‘ON’ karya sutradara YongSeok Choi (Lumpens), secara implisit sutradara terlihat sedang merepresentasikan sebuah rangkaian kejadian Alkitab tampak dari penggunaan simbol keagamaan yang ditampilkan dalam setiap gambar maupun lirik. Sehingga peneliti berusaha menganalisis sistem tanda yang ada pada video musik BTS ‘ON’ untuk melihat kejadian Alkitab yang direpresentasikan sutradara dalam video musik. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes, dimana tanda pada video musik dianalisa secara mendalam sehingga dapat memberikan penjelasan terperinci tentang makna tanda yang terdapat pada video musik BTS ‘ON’. Pengolahan dan analisis data dilakukan dengan mengelompokkan keseluruhan adegan ke dalam beberapa rangkaian yang dikelompokkan berdasarkan masing-masing personil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sutradara ingin menampilkan representasi kejadian Alkitab sebagaimana dipercaya dalam ajaran Calvinisme secara khusus terhadap kisah penebusan tanpa menampilkan kisah penciptaan. Sutradara juga ingin menampilkan sosok penebus di dalam video musik yang ditampilkan melalui penyertaan simbol atau tanda pada gambar maupun lirik. Hadirnya sosok penebus yang direpresentasikan dalam video musik menjelaskan berakhirnya penderitaan manusia di bumi dan digantikan dengan keselamatan (hidup baru). / The message in the music video is the result of a director's personal construction. Music videos that contain representations of certain religious teachings will generally be difficult for global audiences to accept. In the BTS music video 'ON' by director YongSeok Choi (Lumpens), the director seems to be implicitly representing a series of biblical events which can be seen from the use of religious symbols displayed in each picture and lyric. So, the researchers tried to analyze the sign system that is in the BTS music video 'ON' to see the Bible events represented by the director in the music video. This study uses Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis, in which the signs in the music video are analyzed in depth so as to provide a detailed description of the meaning of the sign contained in the BTS 'ON' music video. Data processing and analysis is done by grouping all scenes into several sequences which are grouped according to each personnel. The results showed that the director wanted to present a representation of biblical events believed in the teachings of Calvinism specifically for the story of redemption without displaying the story of creation. The director also wants to display the figure of the redeemer in the music video that is displayed through the inclusion of symbols or signs in pictures or lyrics. The presence of the redeeming figure represented in the music video explains the end of human suffering on earth and is replaced with salvation (new life).
