Abstract

Membaca adalah salah satu proses yang dilakukan serta dipergunakan oleh pembaca untuk memperoleh pesan yang hendak disampaikan oleh penulis melalui media kata-kata atau bahasa lisan. Membaca sangat penting diajarkan sejak seseorang memulai pendidikan ditingkat sekolah dasar (SD) karena keseluruhan pengetahuan yang diajarkan menuntut seseorang untuk menguasai kompetensi membaca. Pada konteks tempat dimana peneliti melakukan penelitian, sekolah melaksanakan sebuah program kegiatan membaca yaitu “Membaca Berjenjang”. Tujuannya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca baik dalam membaca permulaan (mekanik) dan membaca lanjutan (pemahaman). Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan program membaca berjenjang tersebut. Penelitian kualitatif jenis studi kasus adalah metode yang digunakan oleh peneliti. Penelitian dilakukan di kelas II SD Kristen Kalam Kudus Surakarta. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah guru wali dan siswa kelas II SD Kristen Kalam Kudus Surakarta yang mengajarkan membaca berjenjang. Validitas yang dilakukan oleh peneliti melalui cara triangulasi instumen data. Data yang digunakan adalah wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data grounded theory. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat makna yang kontradiktif antara pemahaman guru mengenai tujuan membaca berjenjang dengan strategi yang dipakai guru dalam menerapkan membaca berjenjang di kelas. Persepsi guru adalah mengajarkan membaca berjenjang untuk memahami pada siswanya. Namun, pada penerapannya guru hanya mengajarkan siswa untuk lancar membaca dan mengingat apa yang dibaca./Reading is one of the processes which is carried and used by the readers to get the message from the author through words or spoken language. Reading is very important to be taught since someone start entering elementary school, as overall knowledge requires us to master the reading competence. In the context where the researcher did the research, the school held a program of reading activity called "Membaca Berjenjang". The goal is to improve the reading skills either in the beginning of the reading (mechanical) or in the advanced reading (comprehension). The purpose of the research is to examine and learn the application of the Membaca Berjenjang program. Case study type of Qualitative research is the method used by the researcher. The study was conducted in grade II Kalam Kudus Christian Elementary School Surakarta. The subjects used in this study is the students of grade II Kalam Kudus Christian Elementary School Surakarta and the homeroom teacher who teach Membaca Berjenjang. The validity conducted by the researcher is through triangulation instrument data. The data which is used is complete interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis technique which is used is grounded theory data analysis. The result of the research shows that there is contradictory between teachers' understanding about the purpose of Membaca Berjenjang, with the strategy which is used by the teacher in applying Membaca Berjenjang in class. The teachers perception is teach the students a Membaca Berjenjang to understand the students. However, in its application and implementation, the teacher just teaches students to fluent in reading and just remember what they read.
