Abstract

Every teacher must want a conducive and orderly class situation. One of the ways applied by teachers to form a comfortable and conducive classroom atmosphere is to set rules that must be followed by each student. But in reality, student discipline is still relatively low and this often happens in English lessons. In English lessons there are several skills that students must master, one of them is writing skills. However, students' writing skills in the scope of grammar, capitalization, sentence structure, and the final presentation of grade 2 students at XYZ School are still relatively low. This study aims to improve students' discipline and writing skills. The data in this study were collected using observations and also rubrics. Researchers observed 15 students of grade 2 elementary school in XYZ school during English language subjects. The data obtained is then processed and analyzed which shows the interpretation of the development of students' discipline and writing skills with the application of economic tokens. From the data that has been obtained, there is an increase in discipline by 7.8% and an increase in student writing skills by 14.4%. It can be concluded that token economy can improve students' discipline and writing skills. / Setiap guru pasti menginginkan keadaan kelas yang kondusif dan tertib. Salah satu cara yang diterapkan oleh guru untuk membentuk suasana kelas yang nyaman dan kondusif adalah dengan menetapkan peraturan yang harus dipatuhi oleh setiap siswa. Namun pada kenyataannya, disiplin siswa masih terbilang rendah dan hal ini seringkali terjadi pada pelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Dalam pelajaran Bahasa Inggris terdapat beberapa keterampilan yang harus dikuasai siswa salah satunya, keterampilan menulis. Namun, keterampilan menulis siswa dalam lingkup tata bahasa, kapitalisasi, struktur kalimat, serta penyajian akhir siswa kelas 2 di Sekolah XYZ masih terbilang rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan disiplin dan keterampilan menulis siswa. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan observasi dan juga rubrik. Peneliti mengobservasi 15 orang siswa kelas 2 Sekolah Dasar di Sekolah XYZ selama mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Data yang diperoleh kemudian diolah dan dianalisis yang menunjukkan interpretasi dari perkembangan disiplin dan keterampilan menulis siswa dengan penerapan token economy. Dari data yang telah diperoleh, terdapat peningkatan disiplin sebesar 7,8% dan peningkatan keterampilan menulis siswa sebesar 14,4%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa token economy dapat meningkatkan disiplin dan keterampilan menulis siswa.
