Abstract

The success of a learning process is influenced by many factors. One crucial factor is the ability of teachers to teach. To be able to perform the function of teaching, the teacher must have adequate teaching skills. Therefore in this study, we would like to see how far the teachers teaching skills can be used as a reference in determining the type of training appropriate to the needs of the teachers. The research was conducted with the respondents of Indonesian language teachers of junior and senior high school at XXX International School located in the Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) Tangerang. This type of research program is to focus on how to design specific programs based on the type of data collected. To get the data, we did a survey involving 1112 students and conducted a self assessment of eight Indonesian teachers in junior and senior high school students at XXX International School. With the discrepancy model we can see discrepancy between existing skills and expected skills. If there is a discrepancy then training is needed. Questions used in the survey have been validated and have had reliability before given to the respondent. The findings in this study are based on a survey given to 1112 students obtained the value of 3.8. This value is in category (B) because it is in the range of values >3.4 - 4.2. Based on the self assessment carried out by teachers, there are 14 teaching skills in the category of excellent (SB) as it gets the value of >4.2 - 5.0 and 2 teaching skills that is in the category of good with a range of values >3.4 - 4.2. Subsequent findings are that there is discrepancy between the results of a survey conducted by the student and the teacher self-assessment. There are 16 teaching skills that have discrepancy, so training is recommended. Types of training are then subdivided into training and non-training. There are 13 teaching skills that require training because they involve the basic skills of a teacher. Then there are three teaching skills that require training in the form of non-training which later need coaching and counseling from the leaders. / Keberhasilan sebuah proses pembelajaran dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor. Salah satu faktor yang sangat menentukan adalah kemampuan guru dalam mengajar. Untuk dapat melakukan fungsi mengajar tersebut maka guru harus memiliki keterampilan mengajar yang memadai. Oleh karena itu dalam penelitian ini ingin melihat sejauh mana keterampilan mengajar yang dimiliki oleh guru sehingga dapat dijadikan acuan dalam penentuan jenis pelatihan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan dari guru-guru tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada guruguru Bahasa Indonesia tingkat SMP dan SMA di Sekolah XXX International School yang terletak di kawasan Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) Tangerang. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian program dalam arti umum yaitu ingin berfokus pada bagaimana merancang jenis program tertentu berdasarkan data yang telah dikumpulkan. Untuk mendapatkan data maka dilakukan survai yang melibatkan 1.112 siswa dan melakukan self assessment terhadap 8 guru Bahasa Indonesia pada tingkat SMP dan SMA di Sekolah XXX International School. Dengan discrepancy model dapat dilihat deskrepansi antara keterampilan yang ada pada saat ini dan keterampilan yang diharapkan. Jika terdapat deskrepansi maka akan dibutuhkan pelatihan. Pertanyaan survai telah melalui uji validitas dan realibitas sebelum diberikan kepada responden. Hasil temuan pada penelitian ini adalah berdasarkan survai yang diberikan kepada 1.112 siswa diperoleh hasil nilai 3.8. Nilai tersebut masuk dalam kategori baik (B) karena ada di rentang nilai >3.4 s/d 4.2. Sedangkan berdasarkan self assessment yang dilakukan guru terdapat 14 keterampilan mengajar yang masuk dalam kategori sangat baik (SB) karena mendapat nilai dengan rentang nilai >4.2 s/d 5.0 dan 2 keterampilan mengajar yang masuk kategori baik dengan rentang nilai >3.4 s/d 4.2. Temuan berikutnya yaitu terdapat deskrepansi antara hasil survai yang dilakukan oleh siswa dan self assessment yang dilakukan guru. Terdapat 16 keterampilan mengajar yang mempunyai deskrepansi sehingga direkomendasikan untuk mendapat pelatihan. Jenis pelatihan kemudian dibagi lagi menjadi training dan non-training. Ada 13 keterampilan mengajar yang membutuhkan training karena menyangkut kemampuan dasar seorang guru. Kemudian ada 3 keterampilan mengajar yang membutuhkan pelatihan berupa non-training yang kemudian direkomendasikan diadakan coaching dan counselling dari pimpinan karena menyangkut masalah per individu.
