Abstract

Because of the emergence of Millennial generations that dominate in every organization, resulted in a gap between the previous generations. Millenials survive in their organizations for the longest time in five years. Deloitte's research is also conducted in the country of Indonesia, whose research produces 62% of the millennial generation who will leave the company or organization before 2020. This study aims to test employee communication, mediated by job engagement to employee commitment. Employee communication owned by employees of Millenial generation is explained by information flow, information adequacy, and interaction supportiveness factors. The data used in this study is the primary data obtained from employees of Millenial generation at XYZ University located in Tangerang and Jakarta. Data analysis method used in this research using Partial Least Square (PLS) method with SmartPLS2 software. The results showed that information flow, information adequacy, and interaction supportiveness mediated by job engagement on organizational commitment had a positive and significant correlation. Millennials are technologically literate and very comfortable with the internet world. Giving personal recognition, ongoing training, and frequent feedback and achievement recognition are other important key factors that drive employee engagement and retention. / Generasi Millennial semakin mendominasi pada setiap organisasi di berbagai bidang industri. Akibat dari munculnya generasi Millennial yang mendominasi pada setiap organisasi, mengakibatkan timbulnya gap antara generasi sebelumnya. Generasi Millenial yang bertahan pada organisasi mereka paling lama dalam jangka waktu lima tahun. Penelitian Deloitte tersebut dilakukan pula di negara Indonesia, yang penelitiannya menghasilkan 62% dari generasi millennial yang akan meninggalkan perusahaan atau organisasinya sebelum tahun 2020. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji employee communication, yang dimediasi oleh job engagement terhadap employee commitment. Employee communication yang dimiliki karyawan generasi Millenial dijelaskan dengan faktor information flow, information adequacy, dan interaction supportiveness. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer yang didapatkan dari karyawan generasi Millenial di Universitas XYZ yang berada di Tangerang dan Jakarta. Metode analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode Partial Least Square (PLS) dengan software SmartPLS2. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa information flow, information adequacy, dan interaction supportiveness yang dimediasi oleh job engagaement terhadap organizational commitment memiliki korelasi yang positif dan signifikan. Millennials adalah orang yang melek teknologi dan sangat nyaman dengan dunia internet. Memberikan pengakuan pribadi, pelatihan berkelanjutan, dan umpan balik yang sering serta pengakuan prestasi merupakan faktor kunci penting lainnya yang mendorong keterlibatan dan retensi karyawan.
