Abstract

Banyak siswa menganggap Biologi hanya berfokus pada hafalan konsep, akibatnya siswa kesulitan mengaplikasikan konsep Biologi tersebut dalam dunia nyata karena guru masih menggunakan metode ceramah dalam pembelajaran. Hal ini menimbulkan kerisauan bagi guru sehingga guru melakukan tindakan perbaikan dengan menggunakan Guided Discovery Learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui penerapan Guided Discovery Learning dan perkembangan kemampuan berpikir kritis, motivasi belajar dan hasil belajar siswa pada pelajaran Biologi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa kelas 11 IPA 1 SMA XYZ Tangerang. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan tiga siklus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik observasi, tes tertulis, wawancara dan catatan lapangan yang dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan langkah- langkah Guided Discovery Learning dengan tepat akan memudahkan pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran. Terjadi peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis pada Siklus 1 sebesar 57% dari jumlah siswa, menjadi 73% pada Siklus 2 dan 90 % pada Siklus 3, Terjadi peningkatan Motivasi belajar siswa, yaitu dari 73% pada Siklus 1 menjadi 87% pada Siklus 2, dan 100% pada Siklus 3. Hasil belajar siswa juga menunjukkan peningkatan, hal ini dapat dilihat dari tingkat ketuntasan belajar siswa pada Siklus 1 sebesar 64%, 80% pada Siklus 2 dan 93% pada Siklus 3. Hasil wawancara dengan siswa menunjukkan bahwa siswa setuju dengan pelaksanaan Guided Discovery Learning karena membuat mereka menjadi lebih mengerti dan memahami pelajaran Biologi / Lots of students consider Biology as a subject that only focuses on memoring the concepts, so students have difficulties in applying such biological concepts in the real world because teachers still apply lecture methods in learning. This situation creates anxiety among teachers that makes teachers take a corrective action through Guided Discovery Learning. This research aims to determine the application of Guided Discovery Learning and to know about the development of students’ critical thinking skill, learning motivation and learning outcomes in Biology. The subjects of this research are 30 students of the 11th graders of IPA 1 (Science Studies) in XYZ high school, Tangerang. This research is a Classroom Action Research with three cycles. The data was collected through observation, written test, interview, and field notes that were analyzed by using a qualitative descriptive method. The results show that the appropriate implementation of the Guided Discovery Learning steps will ease the achievement of the learning objectives. There was an increase in critical thinking skills from 57% of the total number of students in Cycle 1 to 73% in Cycle 2 and 90% in Cycle 3, increased student motivation from 73% in Cycle 1 to 87% in Cycle 2 and 100 % In Cycle 3. The students’ learning outcomes also show improvement, which can be seen from the students' level of mastery that is continually improving from 64% in Cycle 1, 80% in Cycle 2 and 93% in Cycle 3. From the results of students’ interviews show that students agree with the implementation of the Guided Discovery Learning because it makes them understand Biology easily
