Abstract

Pemahaman konsep merupakan hal yang sangat penting dalam pembelajaran. Pemahaman konsep membantu siswa untuk tidak hanya sekedar menghafal atau mengingat tentang suatu materi, dan menemukan makna dari materi tersebut. Pemahaman dapat membantu siswa untuk lebih mengerti dan dapat menghubungkan konsep-konsep untuk menyelesaikan masalah. Namun pada kenyataannya peneliti masih menemukan adanya siswa yang belum memiliki pemahaman konsep yang baik pada materi pecahan. Peneliti kemudian memutuskan untuk menerapkan metode Peer Tutoring (Tutor Sebaya) untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa. Penelitan ini dilakukan kepada 17 siswa kelas VI di SLH Sangihe pada 27 Agustus 2018 – 11 Oktober 2018. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan peneliti adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Pelton. Penelitian ini dilakukan sebanyak dua kali penerapan dengan dua kali pertemuan di setiap penerapan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah RPP, umpan balik mentor, jurnal refleksi peneliti, lembar observasi mentor dan lembar observasi rekan sejawat, dan lembar tes. Hasil dari analisis data menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan terhadap pencapaian siswa pada kedua indikator yang digunakan. Pada indikator pertama terjadi peningkatan sebanyak 6% dan pada indikator kedua terjadi peningkatan sebesar 35%. Hasil rata-rata kuis siswa juga meningkat dari 68,58 di penerapan pertama menjadi 87,11. Berdasarkan penjelasan tersebut, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa metode Tutor Sebaya dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa./Concept understanding is very important in learning. Concept understanding can help students not only to memorize or remember the material, but also to find meaning from it. Concept understanding can help students understand better and connect concepts to solve problems. But in reality, the researcher still finds students do not have a good concepts understanding of fraction material. The researcher then decided to apply the Peer Tutoring method to improve the understanding of stidents’ mathematical concepts. Research was conducted on 17 students grade VI SLH Sangihe on August 27, 2018 - October 11, 2018. The type of research used by researchers was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with Pelton model. This research was carried out twice with two meetings on each application. The research instruments used in this study were lesson plans, mentor feedback, researcher’s reflection journals, mentor and peer observation sheets, and test sheet. The results of data analysis show that there is an increase in student achievement on both indicators used. Indicator 1 increased by 6% and indicator 2 increased by 35%. The results of the student quiz also increased from 68,58 in the first application to 87,11 in the second application. Based on these explanations, it can be concluded that Peer Tutor learning model can improve students' conceptual understanding.
