Abstract

Hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada mata pelajaran Matematika kelas IV di Sekolah Lentera Harapan Koja sangat rendah dan tidak mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal yaitu 68. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah penggunaan metode ceramah yang monoton. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, peneliti menerapkan metode inkuiri untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa dan mengetahui langkah-langkah penerapan metode inkuiri tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas tipe Pelton selama tiga kali penerapan tindakan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Sekolah Lentera Harapan Koja dengan subyek penelitian 25 siswa kelas IV pada tanggal 28 Agustus 2018- sampai 24 Oktober 2018. Sumber data yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah lembar umpan balik mentor dan teman sejawat, jurnal refleksi, lembar observasi tindakan, hasil tes siswa, dan RPP. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa metode inkuiri dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas IV sebanyak 80% siswa lulus KKM dari sebelumnya hanya 20% siswa yang lulus. Selain itu, langkah-langkah metode pembelajaran inkuiri yang dilakukan yaitu: Tahapan orientasi, merumuskan masalah, mengajukan hipotesis, mengumpulkan data, merumuskan kesimpulan, dan mengkomunikasikan hasil kesimpulan dan latihan. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode inkuiri dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa dengan memperhatikan langkah-langkah penerapannya dengan baik./ Cognitive learning outcomes of students’ in Grade IV Mathematics in Sekolah Lentera Harapan Koja were very low and did not reach the Minimum Completion Criteria, namely 68. One of the contributing factors was the use of monotonous lecture methods. To overcome this problem, researchers applied the inquiry method to improve students’ cognitive learning outcomes and find out the steps in applying the inquiry method. The research method used is the Pelton type action class research method for three times the application of the action. This research was conducted at Sekolah Lentera Harapan Koja with research subjects of 25 fourth grade students on August 28, 2018 - until October 24, 2018. The data sources used by researchers were mentor feedback sheets, reflection journals, action observation sheets, test results students’, and lesson plan. The results of this study indicate that the inquiry method can improve the cognitive learning outcomes of class IV students’ as much as 80% of students pass the Minimum Completion Criteria from previously only 20% of students graduated. In addition, the steps of inquiry learning methods that are carried out are: Stages of orientation, formulating problems, submitting hypotheses, collecting data, formulating conclusions, and communicating conclusions and exercises. Thus, it can be concluded that the inquiry method can improve the cognitive learning outcomes of students by paying attention to the steps of applying it well.
