Abstract

Matematika merupakan salah satu ilmu pengetahuan yang penting diterapkan kepada siswa karena konsep matematika banyak digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Namun, pada kenyataannya ditemukan bahwa siswa mengalami kesulitan di dalam memahami konsep matematika. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari tanya jawab di dalam kelas dan hasil formatif siswa. Berdasarkan hal ini, maka dilakukan perbaikan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa dengan menggunakan metode numbered heads together (NHT). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa pada topik penaksiran operasi hitung bilangan desimal dengan metode numbered heads together (NHT) dan mengetahui langkah-langkah penerapan metode numbered heads together (NHT) untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa pada topik penaksiran operasi hitung bilangan desimal. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Model penelitian yang digunakan adalah model penelitian menurut Pelton. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 4C sekolah dasar sebanyak 23 orang. Penelitian dimulai pada tanggal 31 Juli – 18 Oktober 2018. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam mengukur keberhasilan penelitian adalah RPP, lembar soal siswa, lembar observasi mentor, lembar umpan balik mentor, dan jurnal refleksi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis instrumen dapat diketahui bahwa ketiga indikator pemahaman konsep matematika siswa meningkat dengan penerapan langkah-langkah metode numbered heads together (NHT) yang baik. Dengan persentase rata-rata indikator PK-1 sebesar 87,28%, persentase indikator PK-2 sebesar 73,91%, dan persentase indikator PK-3 sebesar 78,26%. / Mathematics is one of the important sciences applied to students because mathematical concept is widely used in daily life. However, in reality it was found that the students experienced difficulties in understanding mathematics concept. It can be seen from the discussion in the class and the formative result of students. Based on those problems, an improvement was done to improve students’ mathematics conceptual understanding by using numbered heads together (NHT) method. The aim of this research is to improve students’ mathematics conceptual understanding about estimating decimal number operation with numbered heads together (NHT) method and to know the steps of the implementation in numbered heads together (NHT) method which is aimed to improve the students' understanding of mathematical concept about estimating operation of counting decimal numbers topic. This research method is classroom action research. The research model used was Pelton model. The subjects in this research are 23 elementary students from grade 4C. The research was started on 31st of July – 18th of October 2018. The instruments used in measuring the success of this research were lesson plans, students’ worksheets, mentor observation sheets, mentor feedbacks, and journal reflections. Based on the results in those instruments analysis, it is known that the three indicators of students’ mathematics conceptual understanding are improved by the good implementation numbered heads together (NHT) method. The average percentage for indicator PK-1 is 87.28%, for indicator PK-2 is 73.91%, and for indicator PK-3 is 78,26%.
