Abstract

Kemampuan menulis permulaan adalah salah satu hal yang penting dalam menunjang berjalannya proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan identifikasi masalah yang dilakukan peneliti di kelas II pada salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo, peneliti menemukan adanya masalah yaitu kurangnya kemampuan menulis permulaan siswa, seperti siswa sulit menuangkan gagasan dalam menulis kalimat sederhana, penulisan kalimat yang kurang efektif, tidak menggunakan tanda baca, dan bahkan masih menggunakan bahasa daerah. Hasil penilaian pada tahap identifikasi masalah menunjukkan dari 23 siswa terdapat 17 siswa yang tidak lulus KKM. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini memiliki tujuan yakni: 1) untuk mengetahui bahwa penggunaan media gambar dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis permulaan siswa dan 2) untuk mengetahui bahwa langkah�langkah penggunaan media gambar dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis permulaan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) menurut model Robert P. Pelton yang berlangsung dari tanggal 27 Agustus sampai 25 Oktober 2018, yang dilakukan dalam dua penerapan tindakan dengan jumlah subjek 23 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan selama peneltian ini ialah umpan balik mentor, RPP, jurnal refleksi dan lembar tes siswa. Berdasarkan analisis instrumen pengumpulan data, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa dengan menggunakan media gambar dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis permulaan siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil tes siswa yang dilakukan dalam dua penerapan tindakan. Setelah peneliti melaksanakan setiap tahapan penggunaan media gambar, peneliti melihat adanya peningkatan dari penerapan 1 ke penerapan 2 secara signifikan yakni sebesar 45% pada penerapan tindakan 1 menjadi 100% pada penerapan tindakan 2. Selain itu, peningkatan ini dapat dilihat dari langkah-langkah penggunaan media gambar yakni, interaksi dengan media gambar, tanya jawab tentang gambar, penjelasan materi, menulis cerita atau deskripsi berdasarkan gambar dan membacakan hasil tulisan./The ability of students’ initial writing is one of the important things in supporting the learning process. Based on the results of observations and identification of problem carried out by the researcher in grade II at one of Christian schools in Palopo, the researcher found a problem namely the lack of students ability to write earlyl, such as pouring ideas in writing simple sentences, writing sentences was not effective, not using punctuation, and even still using regional languages. The results of problem identification showed that there were 17 students from 23 students who did not pass the KKM. Therefore, the purpose of this research are; 1) to find out that the use of media picture can improve students writing skills and 2) to find out that the steps of using media picture can improve students writing skills. This study uses classroom action research (CAR) method according to Robert P. Pelton’s model that was conducted from August 27 to October 25, 2018. It was conducted in two application actions with the total subject of 23 students. The instruments used during their research were mentor feedback, lesson plans, reflection journals, and student test sheets. Based on the analysis of instruments data collection, the researcher concluded that using media picture can improve students initial writing skills. It can be seen from the result of student tests conducted in two application actions. After the reseracher carried out each stage of the use of media picture, the reseacher saw the increasement from the application 1 to appilacation 2 significantly about 45% in the application of action 1 to 100% on the application of action 2. Besides that, this increasement can be seen from the steps of the use of media picture, such as the interaction with the media picture, question and answer about picture, exlpanation about the material, writing story or description based on picture, and reading the writing result.
