Abstract

Kemampuan kosakata merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang penting jika ingin memahami bahasa. Kemampuan kosakata dipelajari sejak masa kanak-kanak. Mengajarkan kosakata kepada anak bukanlah hal yang mudah. Seperti penelitian yang penulis lakukan pada kelas 2 SLH Curug, yang di dalamnya terdiri dari 25 siswa, masih terdapat 9 siswa yang masih kesulitan di dalam mempelajari kosakata, terkhususnya di dalam pelajaran bahasa Inggris. Kesulitan kosakata yang dialami adalah kesulitan dalam hal menuliskan kembali bentuk kosakata tersebut, dan menuliskan artinya dalam bahasa Indonesia. Peneliti melakukan upaya untuk dapat membantu kelas 2 SLH Curug dengan cara menggunakan media word wall. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kosakata siswa SLH Curug dan mengetahui bagaimana word wall dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kosakata siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tanggal 10 September sampai tanggal 29 Oktober 2018 dengan menggunakan model Penelitian Tindakan Kelas Robert P. Pelton. Terdapat tiga kali masa penerapan dan masa identifikasi masalah. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah RPP, umpan balik mentor, jurnal refleksi, lembar checklist media, dan hasil tes. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan pembahasan dapat dilihat bahwa tiap indikator kemampuan kosakata siswa mengalami peningkatan terlihat dari nilai rata-rata siswa yang naik pada setiap tindakannya yaitu pada tindakan satu sebesar 90.24 pada tindakan 2, 95.36, dan pada tindakan tiga sebesar 88.52. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan media word wall mampu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kosakata bahasa Inggris siswa kelas 2 SLH Curug. / The ability of the vocabulary is one of the important ability to understand language. The ability of vocabulary learned since childhood. Teaching vocabulary to children is not an easy thing. Like the writer do research on grade 2 SLH Curug, which consists of 25 students, still there are 9 students who are in difficulty in learning the vocabulary, in particular for the English language lessons. The difficulty is that vocabulary difficulties in terms of writing out the back shape of the vocabulary and write the meaning in bahasa Indonesia. Researcher can make an effort to help grade 2 SLH Curug by using media word wall. The purpose of this research is to improve the ability of students vocabulary in SLH Curug and knowing how word wall can enhance the ability of the student's vocabulary. This research was conducted on 10 September to 29 October 2018 by using the model class action research developed by Robert P. Pelton. There are three times the application and the identification of problems. The instruments used were the RPP, mentor feedback, reflection, journal sheet checklist media, and test results. Based on the results of analysis and discussion of it can be seen that each indicator of the ability of the student's vocabulary has increased by looking at the average value of students who ride on any of his actions, on the first action amounting 90.24, on the second action amounting 95.36, and on the third action amounting 88.52. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the media word wall is able to improve the ability of the English language lesson vocabulary grade 2 SLH Curug.
