Abstract

Pemahaman konsep merupakan suatu hal penting yang harus dimiliki siswa ketika mempelajari suatu materi di dalam proses belajar. Berdasarkan hasil observasi yang dilakukan di dalam kelas IV pada pelajaran matematika dengan materi pecahan dalam bentuk sederhana, dapat dilihat bahwa sebagian besar siswa tidak dapat menjelaskan ulang konsep pecahan sederhana dengan tepat dan siswa tidak dapat menghitung pecahan bentuk sederhana. Berdasarkan hasil tes pemahaman konsep jumlah siswa yang mampu mencapai standar ketuntasan indikator I dan indikator II sebesar 13,3% dan 40%. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan Pemahaman konsep matematika siswa dengan menerapkan metode peer tutoring dan bagaimana langkah-langkah penerapan metode peer tutoring dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Pelton. Penelitian berlangsung pada tanggal 21 Agustus 2018 di salah satu sekolah Kristen Ambon. Subjeknya adalah siswa kelas IV yang berjumlah 30 orang. Penelitian ini berlangsung selama satu kali penerapan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi, lembar umpan balik guru mentor, RPP, lembar refleksi peneliti, lembar wawancara, dan lembar tes pemahaman konsep Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pada pencapaian ketuntasan kedua indikator pemahaman konsep siswa. Peningkatan pada indikator 1 sebesar 26,7% dan peningkatan pada indikator II sebesar 36,67%. Sedangkan langkah-langkah penerapan peer tutoring yang digunakan adalah memilih siswa sebagai tutor, memberi pembekalan materi kepada tutor, membentuk kelompok, menjelaskan tugas tutor dan tutee, menyampaikan materi, memberikan tugas di alam kelompok, meminta tutor membantu tutee, mengamati dan membantu setiap kelompok, memberi tes yang dikerjakan secara individu. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, penerapan metode peer tutoring dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep Matematika pada kelas IV di salah satu sekolah Kristen Ambon. /Understanding concept is an important thing that students must have when learning a material in the learning process. Based on the results of observations made in class IV in the learning of Mathematics with fraction material in a simple form, it can be seen that most students cannot re-explain simple fraction concepts correctly and students can not calculate simple fractions. Based on the results of the concept understanding test the number of students who were able to reach the standard completeness of indicator I and indicator II was 13.3% and 40%. The purpose of this study is to improve the understanding of students mathematical conceps by applying the peer tutoring method and how the steps to apply the peer tutoring method in improving concept understanding The research methodology used was Pelton's Classroom Action Research (CAR). The study took place on August 21, 2018 in one of the Ambon Christian schools. The subjects were 30 students of class IV. This study occur for one application. The research instruments used was observation sheets, mentor teacher feedback sheets, RPP, researcher reflection sheets, interview sheets, and concept understanding test sheets The results showed that there was an increase in the achievement of the completeness of the two indicators of students' conceptual understanding. The increase in indicator I was 26.7% and the increase in indicator II was 36.67%. While the steps to implement peer tutoring are used to select students as tutors, provide material briefing to tutors, form groups, explain tutors and tutee assignments, deliver material, give assignments in groups, ask tutors to help tutee, observe and help each group, give tests done individually. Based on the results of the study, the application of the peer tutoring method can improve the understanding of the concept of Mathematics in class IV at an Ambon Christian school.
