Abstract

Keterampilan menulis merupakan salah satu keterampilan berbahasa yang penting untuk dikuasai oleh setiap orang. Namun pada kenyataannya, peneliti menemukan bahwa banyak siswa yang belum terampil dalam menulis. Hal ini terlihat ketika peneliti memberikan latihan kepada siswa untuk menuliskan materi yang ada di papan tulis. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, peneliti menerapkan metode pembelajaran Drill untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa dan menjelaskan langkah penerapan metode tersebut dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa kelas II SD di salah satu Sekolah Kristen di Lampung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah jenis Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Pelton. Penelitian dimulai dari tanggal 14 Agustus 2018 sampai 23 September 2018 dengan tiga kali penerapan. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas II, yang terdiri dari 12 siswa laki-laki dan 11 siswa perempuan. Sumber data yang digunakan antara lain: RPP peneliti, lembar tes yang diukur menggunakan rubrik, lembar observasi mentor atau umpan balik mentor dan jurnal refleksi peneliti. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada keterampilan menulis siswa kelas II pada mata pelajaran tematik dengan rata-rata persentase indikator pada penerapan I sebesar 36,95%, penerapan II sebesar 61,58%, dan sebesar 74,63% di penerapan III. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode drill dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa kelas II SD di salah satu Sekolah Kristen di Lampung dengan menggunakan langkah-langkah metode yaitu: menyampaikan tujuan pembelajaran dan memotivasi siswa; menjelaskan manfaat dari latihan menulis yang akan dilakukan, menyajikan informasi atau materi, pemberian arahan untuk menulis, dan melakukan latihan menulis; guru mengobservasi setiap siswa selama pembelajaran dan memberikan penilaian terhadap hasil kerja siswa; guru melakukan refleksi tentang pembelajaran dan latihan yang dilakukan sebagai upaya untuk perbaikan di pelaksanaan selanjutnya./ Writing skill is one of important language skills to be mastered by everyone. However in the fact, the researcher found that many students have competence in writing yet. It can be seen when the researcher gave them practices which was writing the materials on the whiteboard. To overcome that problem, the researcher implemented Drill Method to improve students’ writing skills and explain the steps of the method implemented that it can improve the writing skills of second graders in one of the Christian Schools in Lampung. The research method used is Classroom Action Research type Pelton model. The research was started from 14th of August 2018 until 23th of September 2018 in three applications. The subject in this research is grade II students, consist of 12 male students and 11 female students. The source that are used are: the researcher lesson plans, test sheets measured using rubric, mentor observation sheets or mentor feedbacks and the researcher reflection journals. Data analysis result shows grade II students writing skill enhancement in tematic with the first application indicator percentage average is 36,95%, the second application is 61,58%, and 74,63 in the third application. So, it can be concluded that the implementation of Drill Method could improve second graders’ writing skills in in one of the Christian schools in Lampung by using the method’s steps which were telling the learning objectives, motivating the students; explaining the benefits of writing practices that can be held, presenting information or materials, giving instruction to write, and doing the writing practices; the teacher observed every student during the learning process and assessing students’ result; the teacher made reflections about the learning process and the practices as efforts to be repaired in the next implementations.
