Abstract

Siswa menjadi salah satu pihak yang turut mengambil bagian dalam kegiatan ekonomi harus memiliki bekal pengetahuan sebagai landasan dalam pengambilan keputusan kehidupan sehari-hari. Pengetahuan yang harus dimiliki siswa didapat dari pemahaman konsep siswa terhadap pembelajaran. Pemahaman konsep merupakan kemampuan untuk menangkap makna dari sebuah konsep. Berdasarkan hasil tes siswa di salah satu sekolah menengah atas, pemahaman konsep siswa masih rendah dalam pelajaran ekonomi. Metode problem based learning dianggap dapat mengatasi permasalahan pemahaman konsep siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) mengetahui metode problem based learning dapat atau tidak membentuk pemahaman konsep ekonomi, dan 2) mengetahui tahapan metode problem based learning dapat atau tidak membentuk pemahaman konsep ekonomi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas metode Pelton. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 24, 26 September dan 3 Oktober 2018 dengan melibatkan 28 siswa. Variabel masalah adalah pemahaman konsep siswa dalam kelompok, sedangkan variabel tindakan adalah metode problem based learning. Indikator pemahaman konsep yang dipakai adalah 1) mengidentifikasi ciri khas suatu konsep untuk membuat contoh, 2) kemampuan mengaitkan beberapa konsep, dan 3) membuat suatu pernyataan yang mewakili seluruh informasi. Sumber data variabel masalah dan tindakan masing-masing adalah hasil observasi, umpan balik, hasil kerja siswa, lembar checklist, dan jurnal refleksi. Hasil kerja siswa dalam kelompok menunjukan bahwa terdapat dampak pada proses pembentukan pemahaman konsep pada ketiga indikator. Tahap problem based learning yang membentuk pemahaman konsep adalah 1) mengorientasi siswa pada masalah, 2) mengorganisasi siswa untuk belajar, 3) membimbing pengalaman individu/kelompok, 4) mengembangkan dan menyajikan hasil karya, serta 5) menganalisis dan mengevaluasi proses pemecahan masalah. / Students who also take part in economic activities must have the provision of knowledge as a basis for decision making in everyday life. Knowledge that must be possessed by students is derived from students understanding concepts of learning. Understanding concepts is the ability to capture the meaning of concept. Based on the results of observations in one of the high schools, showed students concept understanding is low. The method of problem based learning is considered to be able to overcome the problem of understanding students' concepts. This study aims to 1) know that problem based learning method able or not able build the understanding of economic concepts, and 2) know the stages of the problem based learning method that able or not able build the understanding of economic concepts. The research method used is the Pelton method class action research. This research was conducted on 24, 26 September and 3 October 2018 involving 28 students. The problem variable is the understanding of students' concepts, while the action variable is the problem based learning method. The indicators of understanding the concepts that been using is 1) identifying the characteristics of a concept to make an example, 2) the ability to associate several concepts, and 3) making a statement that represents all information. Sources of data on problem variables and their respective actions are the results of observations, feedback, student work results, checklist sheets, and reflection journals. The result of the group assessment shows that there are impack from the process of building students understanding concepts on all three indicators. The stage of problem based learning method that build students understanding concept are; 1) orienting students to problems, 2) organizing students to learn, 3) Guiding individual / group experiences, 4) developing and presenting work, and 5) analyzing and evaluating problem solving processes.
